Both girls are still in daycare, but we only get a written report for the baby. My oldest only gets a calendar with a smiley face or a frowny face to show how she was that day. I definitely prefer the written report

Usually written for LO 2 and usually verbal for LO 1. I will ask questions if I need more info.

We are at an inhome, and we get a verbal, when she was a baby we had written (feedings/diapers/ect.) but as she got older it morphed to a verbal. I miss the written but not enough to request it again!

We get a full written report. It looks like the write up the general structure of the day (activities they did as a class, the theme for the week, and the meals for the day) and make photocopies of that. But then for each child they write specific things. So they'll write on D's how much he ate of what parts of his meal, how long he napped, and his diapers. Then they also add a personal note, like yesterday's said, "D really enjoyed playing with the dinosaurs with J and E!"

@mediagirl: Yeah, according to them, D always has a "great day." Do they have magic great day fairy dust? Because c'mon. Toddlers.

We get "she had a great day" every single day. One kid cannot have a great day every day.

The new school she will be going to has daily notes and a door chart that the teacher writes general class things on daily.

We get a verbal rundown at pick-up and they have whiteboards where they put the information of what activities they did that day. Also nap time and lunch smileys are up there too for each child. There used to be one for diaper changes but that's gone since they restructured.

We get a full daily sheet for DD who is in Pre-School and DS who is in Kindergarten Enrichment - I also get verbal updates from DD's teacher.

It breaks out like 6 sections they worked on and what exactly they did - tells me if DD napped - tells me how much lunch both kids ate and then includes a special note about each kid such as "DS loved reading the book about spaceships - he said one day he wants to fly to space!"

Now that DS is in K for 1/2 day I get nothing from her. During our teacher conference I told her it was driving me crazy not knowing what he does everyday - she agreed that its a very hard transition for parents!

Just a quick "she had a good/bad day" which is fine for me. if something is out of the ordinary, she'll give more details but otherwise, I am fine with good/bad. It comes secondhand through DH, anyways.

Nope, nothing unless DD tells me and I am fine with that. (She's in pre-k) This is why they have parent teacher conferences and I can call her teacher if I have any concerns.

We get a report broken down in categories, like "cognitive" "art", etc. It will have stuff like "read books with new friends" and "enjoyed lunch!" Honestly, getting anything at all is a huge improvement over the last daycare!

We get a written run down each day, which they then run through verbally at pick up. It can be a little difficult to decipher sometimes because it is written in the first person plural.... but inconsistently..... so we get sentences like "we put my coat on and went outside". You're never quite sure who did what! But its lovely all the same!

@yoursilverlining: that's fancy!

We get a very simple written rundown - bottles, lunch/snacks, diapers, naps, one sentence about her day. I usually ask how her day was and they will always say it was a good day, but they might mention something about her nap, or she loved a certain activity, or said a certain word.

I get a very brief verbal rundown. It is the same almost every day: two poops, ate a lot, napped 2 hours.

I wish I knew more about what activities they do each day so I could talk to LO about it. She says "yes" to everything I ask her.

Back when our kids were both in the same daycare, we got a written rundown of our kids' days! It was fantastic - and if we had any questions, they took the time to talk through things with us.

At our daughter's preschool, they give a quick verbal rundown of how the day went (if she ate well, if she napped, if she did anything particularly different that day) and that's it. I have to say, I prefer the written rundown! But totally understand that it takes the teachers more time to pull that together...

Our son is in Kindergarten now, and the only rundown we get is from our son (who leaves out important details). I try to pick him up directly from school now and then (as opposed to from his afterschool program in the evening), so that I can hear some details directly from his teacher on how things are going. I chatted with his teacher today, and she mentioned that he's been talking in class recently - so that's something we can focus on in the coming weeks (not talking or interrupting).

Do you get a verbal or written rundown of how your LO did each day?
