It is probably partly because we see them a lot more (my family is 1500 miles away, ILs are 250), but I have also never been good at communicating with my parents. I don't argue or anything with my in laws but they are nosy, live across the street & my MIL is kind of dense so it's easy to get annoyed with stupid questions.
