I ran them on every person I interviewed. I think part of it is because I used to work with foster children and therefore had my background checked and then some. I have nothing to hide so I would agree to it. The one family that did run a background check also ran a credit check. Every nanny we've ever interviewed has offered a background test. But after we interviewed 2 babysitters tonight, DH said that they seem good, I can pick one after they get their criminal checks! I was surprised. Maybe because I used to babysit and this was never ever asked of me. So i feel weird asking them to do it. DH's reasoning is that is required for almost every job in our province.</p> <p>What's the norm on getting background checks done for your babysitter or nanny?</p> <p>We are looking at babysitters who have also worked as nannies, in their 20s and 30s. not a teenage babysitter if that makes a difference. </p>
