I will get the occassional runny nose or sore throat, but I have never had a sick day in my life (during school or working). We always joke that the women in my family have an iron stomach. Nothing can bring us down! In fact, when I was in the Peace Corps, we had to have a yearly checkup with our doctors. At my last one, I went in, gave my stool samples, said I felt fine, and returned to my town. Three days later, I got a phone call from the doctor asking if I was ok. I said of course, and asked her why. She said that I had the worse case of amoebic dysentery she had seen in her 15+ years as a Peace Corps doc! So they gave me the meds to kill everything in my gut, which, unfortunately, worked. Because all my awesome gut bacteria was gone, I had no immunity/defense, and got amoebas and giardia several more times (and unfortunately felt it and suffered the consequences!). This is why I will only take an antibiotic if absolutely necessary. I have never been on antibiotics or any medication in my adult life! I got some bad bugs as a kid but don't get any more than a yearly cold now. It will be interesting to see if LO changes that! The only time I get sick if DH catches something and then gives it to me b/c we spend a lot of time together (UGH). However, there was a year's span in college where I was really hard on my body (working out like crazy, barely eating or sleeping, doing a LOT of partying and everything that goes along with that...) and I was sick all the time with every ailment under the sun - strep throat, UTIs, nails falling off, ugh. But, I looked awesome and was in the best shape of my life since I was working out so hard and watching my diet so obsessively. LOL. I never have and when I do get sick it's usually only a day or two that I'm really out of it. I've never been to the hospital for myself and they actually make me really uncomfortable!
