For 7 years, it's just been the two of us. I get him cashews for Christmas and birthday. He just celebrated his 30 year anniversary here. I got him $100 from Dunkin Donuts. He was blown away by it. He's given me wedding, baby shower, Christmas gifts over the years. I thought it was appropriate.</p> <p>With the new coworker, she started out okay, but revealed how high maintenance she is. I listen to public radio to drone her out and act like my boss and not say much. I think getting her something would be a peace gesture since I'm still not fond of her. I'm kind of paranoid that she's gunning for my job and duties. She's just proven to be less than straightforward than my boss and I. Not that I don't like giving gifts! But deciding who to include and what to give them. </p> <p>This year I gave gifts to my immediate coworkers, to the big bosses and I have sort of like communal gifts to a few departments I work with a lot. But I got this weird vibe when I gave out my gifts, like either people didn't appreciate the communal thing or were really surprised and clearly hadn't planned on gifting me anything LOL. </p> <p>Which, I mean, I don't care if they don't give me anything but my gift-giving is largely based on a perceived sense of obligation so it's doubly weird.</p> <p>What are your guidelines for workplace gift-giving? </p>
