LO doesn't drink cow's milk yet but since we always drink organic milk, so will she.

@andrea - Yes, so hard to know what causes the eczema flares. I was kind of hoping after the one year mark we would see some improvement, but so far we haven't. If it doesn't improve over the next few months, might try dairy alternatives and see if it helps.

@thehistoryofus - have considered that as well since the bulk of his milk intake is at home. :)

We are in the same dilemma. We decided to go ahead and let her have the 2 glasses of non organic milk per day at school and we would buy organic for at home.

We made the switch to Organic over a year or so ago....I am for organic for a few reasons. I plan to have DD on it too.

@kimbed: DD also has eczema and I have wondered about the link to dairy, too, but I haven't taken the plunge into going dairy free. I am not sure that it is related for her since there was a period when she was drinking dairy free formula, not eating any dairy via solids yet, and she still had eczema ....

Anyway, let me know if you ever try goats milk and find that it helps!

I've wondered about looking into goats milk also since my LO has had bouts of eczema since birth. I've always wondered if it's cow's milk related.

Thank you all for your replies! I haven't thought about looking into the local options as well.

@Andrea - good point about the hormones!

We're actually looking to switch the whole family from cows milk to local RAW goats milk since it's closer to human milk and hormone/additive free. If we don't switch to local we will definitely be going with organic cows milk.

Our daycare also provides regular milk and we have opted to bring in organic milk. Since DD drinks a substantial amount of milk (compared to any one food), I like to make sure that it is hormone free. There are a few employees of the daycare who also send their kids there and I see that they do the same thing so I don't feel like it is an inconvenience ... even though DD is the only one in her classroom that has a different milk.

There aren't necessarily hormones in non-organic food so I view that differently.

We give LO organic cows milk. I used to drink regular cows milk A LOT, and I started breaking out like crazy. My mom finally figured out it was from all of the hormones in the milk that I drank, and she told me to switch to organic and it did help a lot. I feel like if the milk did that to my body, I don't want to risk what it will do to my LO's. We don't have a huge food budget, but it's worth it to me to get organic milk for her because she drinks so much of it.

when my LO is old enough I dont want to give her regular cows milk from the store, I will consider organic milk or maybe almond milk, although its bit nutty and weird for me, but LO may love it if thats all she knows

I don't feed my son organic milk, instead I give him local, pasture fed milk produced specifically in our canton (equivalent to state).

I went this route because it is more important to me that he consume local, fresh products than ones that are certified organic. It happens that the milk is also hormone free and the cows are grass fed.

I'd like to get some opinions on organic cow's milk. My LO has been drinking cow's milk for a month now and I have always given him organic. His day care has let me know that they will provide milk for him (non-organic). My DH thinks we should just let him drink what they provide. I'm torn. Organic milk is expensive, but I have it in my head that it's the best thing for him. Sometimes I think I'm being too particular because we don't feed him an "exclusively" organic diet, so why am I hanging onto the milk thing? Do any of you out there have opinions on this or have you done any research on the potential benefits of organic?
