They both watch my kids alternating days during the week (for free) so I try to get them something for most holidays. She does so many little things for me throughout the year but won't accept things from me without a "reason." So I like using the excuse of Valentine's Day. </p> <p>Also I think it just depends on how you view the day. I don't focus on romantic love - just love for the people in my life. In middle school, high school, and college I baked treats and made cards for all of my friends - guys and girls. They weren’t roses but another assortment. I never considered it strange. I hope my boys remember me on Valentine’s Day when they are older. To me, it’s not just a romantic holiday. I attached it with some chocolate I was given (I work with kids so I get a lot of chocolate gifts on holidays). Although it was a nice gesture and my mom appreciated it, it wasn’t a big deal nor would she expect more or expect it would become a yearly thing. </p> <p>Our family is not big on mass produced holidays.
