For breastfeeding issues I contact my OB, my Pediatrician does also give advice on that but my primary contact person is my OB.

We have a GP that LO and I share, at 6 weeks PP my OB signs care back over to her and I won't see him again until I'm pregnant again (or if complications of some sort come up and my GP refers me out again). Same with a pedi, we won't see a Pedi unless there is something wrong and we need a specialist.

I don't think it's weird that your pedi perscribed meds for you, a Dr is a Dr, why bother going to see someone else when the pedi is qualified to perscribe meds.

My midwives handled my mastitis. I don't have a PCP right now, so if I had it again I would probably still call them.

@TurtleDoves: @pastemoo: I don't actually have a general practitioner! I haven't had a physical since being pregnant, since I saw my OB so often.

@pastemoo: same.
I plan to go to my normal doctor if I need any of that care.
I will see my OB for my birth control & 6w appointment...then not again until my 2nd pregnancy.
Our pediatrician is a male so, I am foolishly a little too shy to go to him with boobie problems:/

We switched to a family practice when DS was a few weeks old because I didn't like the pediatrician's office. So DS's pediatrician is also my doctor and DH's doctor. Most of the time I like the fact that it is a one stop shop, and the doctor is really great. I think before we switched, I probably would have gone to the ped though since we were there so often? I don't know that I would have thought to call my midwife for breast feeding issues.

Neither--I go to my PCP for breast stuff, or the hospital LC.

I got my mastits care, etc from Ob. Actually when I called my pedi about it, they referred me to my OB.

I would go to my OB. I would feel more comfortable with her prescribing medication to me than a pediatrician.

I should add that I originally called my OB about the mastitis but she didn't want to prescribe meds, I guess because I wasn't feeling THAT bad at that point. The next day I went to the pedi for LO's checkup and I was feeling much worse, so the pedi prescribed meds.

When we were having BF issues with LO I would go to the ped. But when I got mastitis went to the OB for my prescription but then consulted with ped over whether it was ok to keep nursing while I was on the meds. So both I guess.

When I had BF problems, I contacted my OB as well as my pediatrician. But I guess it was more because LO was having trouble eating....I think if I had mastitis or thrush I would have called my OB.

My sister thought it was really strange that LO's pediatrician was the one who prescribed me antibiotics for mastitis, and she also thought it was weird that the pedi said to come in on Monday and see her if I continue to have signs of thrush over the weekend. She seemed to think that I should have been going to my OB for these things. What do you ladies do? I guess I assumed that my OB was for pregnancy/gynecological related stuff, and the pediatrician was for anything baby related (which includes breastfeeding issues, IMO). Who do you go to for your questions/problems?
