This can happen at any time, we have the $ and blueprints, just waiting on the right parcel of land in the right neighborhood to pop up for sale! Want to be into our forever home before LO is in kindergarten.</p> <p>5 years - buy investment property (apartment building or lakeside rental cabin...haven't decided which yet, but probably apartment building). Take cruise on Viking River Cruises down the Nile River in Egypt (this will be our 5th anniversary trip/DH 50th birthday trip, w/o LO who will go to "camp grandparents" for a week). Go back to Tuscany. Husband will go up to full professor from associate, which will greatly increase his income.</p> <p>10 years - buy a few more pieces of investment property (these would all be apartment buildings). I would love to be able to transition to part time work at this point and do more volunteer work. I figure the really far out planning depends on whether we can have kids and if we end up going through with having 2.</p> <p>2 years - have a baby, DH and I start working from home part time</p> <p>5 years - have a second baby, sell our house and buy one in a better school district when baby #1 is kindergarten age. We definitely don't really have 2/5/10 year plans! I mean, we're in a good place right now where we don't really see much changing. We have our forever home, we're married, and we're currently pregnant with kid #1. We are struggle to decide on a few options. It got me thinking....maybe we should have a 2 year plan (which we kinda do already) a 5 year plan and then a 10 year plan... i guess it would go something like this.</p> <p>2 year plan<br /> move to a new town ( a MUST for DH's work.)<br /> have a baby :-) (yaaay)<br /> buy a house (these aren't in order by the way)</p> <p>5 year plan<br /> DH get promotion (move to town for best schools if not already there)<br /> have babies 2 &amp; 3 (eek ;-) )</p> <p>10 year plan<br /> get a block of land<br /> take year off for DH and I to take family camping trip around Australia.</p> <p>our problem is we can't decided which town to be in next.....one close to family for first baby or one far away where DH will earn almost double $$.</p> <p>SO are you a 2, 5, 10 yr plan family....or do you just take things as they come? </p>
