Six of of her siblings live within an hour of each other so we had lots of family gatherings when I was growing up and still get together for Christmas and July 4 every year. My mom is one of four and all but one live close to each other so they got together every Sunday until my grandparents both passed away now they get together about once a month. They also have a lot of close first cousins... This means I have a lot of first and second cousins. Also, I came from a family of 3 kids and my DH of 4... So our kids have lots of first and second cousins too. I love having a big extended family! We have a small family. MIL doesn't have a relationship with her family at all, so it's just FIL's, and it's pretty small. My side is pretty small too.
