Yes. We met in elementary school and were inseparable during the end of elementary - start of Jr.HS. She lives a whole day of travel away. We've been through a lot together.

Yep, and I've known her my entire life. Unfortunately, she lives a mere 1700 miles away from me. Also, bonus points, for referencing Anne of Green Gables. It's one of my all time favorites!

I'm really not sure! I have one reaaaally close friend and I do tell her almost everything, but maybe I'm just a more private person to begin with? She's probably the closest thing tho!

Yes. I have two. One I met in middle school age 12 and the other I met through friends when I was 19. They both live ~2 hours away from me in opposite directions, which is incredibly unfortunate. I love them both so so so dearly and can tell them my deepest secrets and we do not judge each other. They are (besides my husband and kids) my favourite people on earth. I get super pouty ALL THE TIME that they do not live closer.

Yes! My bff is definitely the one I can confide in about anything. We have lived hours apart and now ten minutes apart and just are able to have a good time and rely on each other through anything.

Yes! We met at particularly difficult times in both of our lives and have always joked that we are soul mates because God put us together at the perfect time. We were roommates for a short time but for most of our friendship we have lived several hours apart. But she is family to me.

i have five girlfriends i feel this way about. i could tell them ANYTHING (and i do). they don't judge me at all. they know me and my heart inside and out and i am just so insanely lucky to have them. it's hard to get together since everyone is starting to get married/have babies (three of them are pregnant!) but i could call any of them at 4am just to cry if i ever needed to. i said it in my wedding speech - they were the first loves of my life!

Yes, my best friend from college. We can go a long time without talking (but we rarely do) and we pick right back up where we left off. I am lucky to have her.

I used to, but we don't see/talk to each other as much anymore due to distance and life in general. When we do talk, it's like nothing changed, but it's infrequent enough that I wouldn't say she's my "bosom friend" any more.

Yes. I've known my BFF since we were five - we met at school and have been inseparable since. It has been hard since we both had children to spend as much time together - and when we do, we have to chase toddlers and barely get time to chat - and I do fear we might start drifting apart but I know this stage is just temporary....

From Anne of Green Gables:

"A bosom friend–an intimate friend, you know–a really kindred spirit to whom I can confide my inmost soul.”

Anne finds her bosom friend in Diana. Elizabeth Bennett has Charlotte Lucas in Pride and Prejudice. The sisters have each other in Little Women. Frodo had Samwise in The Lord of the Rings. And so on.

Do you have a bosom friend? How did you meet? Your spouse does not count!

I've always wanted one. I'm feeling a little sorry for myself that someone I thought might turn out to be a kindred spirit finds our religious differences too much of an obstacle for a deep friendship. I'm at this stage of life where it seems like it's really hard to meet new people, and I'm offbeat enough in my politics/religion/parenting style that I can't just show up to the local moms group and find people of like mind. It's easy to maintain casual acquaintances with social media, but it's been hard for me to find a reciprocal friendship that is intimate and personal.
