They might not smell bad, but they do smell.</p> <p>Another thing is that poop belongs in the toilet, so even if you are using disposables, you should be flushing the poop down the toilet (not the diaper, just the poop). Although DS's diapers don't stink (EBF), DD's do (toddler) so I am glad we have it. However, it does still stink when opened and for a few minutes afterwards if it has stinky diapers in it. Our next door neighbors recommended it to us and it is fantastic. We used to put our poop bags in the trash cans in the garage and in the summer it would smell so incredibly awful. I don't have much experience with baby poop, but let me tell you, I can't imagine much that smell worse than hot, week old dog poop. Even my car was starting to smell from being in the garage.</p> <p>With the diaper genie there's pretty much no smell, even in the summer. We have a smallish dog and the poop bags are probably a lot smaller than diapers, so we don't go through the refills all that quickly. Started some formula a few weeks ago and solids too so the poops are a little more smelly. But our house does not smell poopie at all. I say nay. Waste of plastic to put them in a sausage! </p> <p>When I hear breastfeeding people saying they can't live without their diaper genies I think they are nuts and don't actually know what diapers smell like. </p> <p>When I babysat, I worked in a home with older-baby-poop, which DOES smell, but they didn't even have a lid on their diaper garbages. I have also used the diaper champ which you can use regular trash bags for and the dekor one which also takes regular bags. None are perfect but when the time comes I will buy the dekor- I think it is a little bigger than the diaper champ and I like the foot pedal. </p>
