I'm wondering the same thing! Mine will be 2.5 years apart too. I'm hoping to baby wear baby 2 in the beginning but who knows if that's gonna work out. I'm just going to wait and see.

We live in the suburbs and DD1 has always been happy to walk or ride her bike for a longer distance. Same age gap as you!

My two kids are 28 months apart, but my older daughter was a walker. She didn't walk early, but she could walk and walk and walk. By the time she was 18 months old she could easily walk the kilometre home from her daycare at the end of a long day there! So I used to tell people that it would likely be a waste of money. At 2.75 years old that gal hiked a 6 km trail through the woods without a complaint!

But then my younger kid came along and showed me what a child not interested in walking is like. And had she been my older one, I wouldn't have lasted a day with two kids and a single stroller!

I guess all I am saying is that it depends on the kids, how far you are going, and what they are willing to entertain!

We have one but I haven't used it yet. I've been wearing #2 and pushing #1. #1 is getting less and less interested in riding in the stroller so I don't know that it'll ever get much use.

We don't use as much as I though we would. I use the hell out of my frame stroller that I can easily toss in the trunk and then wear my DD. But, I do a LOT of baby wearing!

Definitely not a necessity. My kids are 22 months apart; they're currently 2.5 yrs and 8 months. We live in a cold, urban area, but I still find I can get by using a stroller and carrier, or stroller and buggy board. I just always make sure I have my Ergo under the stroller if my older one is riding the board or walking, so that in the case of a total meltdown I can switch her to the stroller and carry her little sister.

I'm sure there are some times I double stroller would be useful, but definitely not necessary. I'm personally glad I don't have to store one/navigate it into crowded grocery store aisles and small shops. We DO have two strollers (okay, three), so in the case of an all day zoo trip or something with more than one grown up, we'd have the option of strolling both girls if need be.

You'll get some use out of your double, but not sure it'll be worth it. We got 1.5 years out of our double and recently sold it.
DD is 2 months shy of 4 and DS just turned 2.

It's a must for us-- they are 22 months apart and C changes her mind mid-walk all the time whether she wants to walk/run/jump or is tired and wants to be pushed.

My mom also takes them for 2-3 hour outings in our neighborhood to the local park, or just walking around, and there's no way C could be on her feet that whole time.

We also live in the 'burbs, and we use the stroller at home around our neighborhood, and also for outings.

We have a B-ready and bought the equipment to double it up. I love having the option for E when she gets tired. Long days out shopping or to the zoo it's been a lifesaver. The second seat doesn't get a ton of use, but we already owned the system and it was under $100 to double it up so we went for it.

We have one and use it occasionally (LO1 is 2, LO2 is 7 months)...we could have lived without it but we really do enjoy using it on walks, at the zoo, trips, etc. Plus, the one we bought has great resale value or we might have a 3rd baby and will still use it then

Very necessary to go anywhere, especially at the beginning of having 2 LOs. However if you have a tall LO, watch out. My 2.5 year old has outgrown our Mountain Buggy.

I'm due with #2 at the end of March and at this stage we're not planning on getting a double stroller (age gap of 2.5 years). Miss A doesn't really use the stroller now apart from big days out or walking our dog and I'm hoping to be able to wear the new baby (or Miss A). We are considering a buggy board and I wouldn't mind an all terrain double for dog walking but only at the right price.

Yes, my kids are 26 months apart, but N still really liked to be carried/pushed over walking, and J HATED the ergo. I was hoping I could get by with just a single stroller and baby wearing, but we definitely needed ours. I say wait til the baby comes to decide!

I have one and use it all the time. My boys are 20 months apart. DS2 is walking more now when we go out, but it's still great in case he falls asleep or for places I don't think he'll be able to walk all day. We also didn't really baby wear. My boys didn't like it and they are too heavy.

Yes. They are 19 months apart and it was a lifesaver in the early days. Only way I could easily go places alone. Now, I don't use it as much because my 32 month old likes to walk.

I found it really cumbersome to baby wear in public places while trying to deal with an active toddler.

Nope! Didn't need one at 26 months apart. I baby wear the new guy a lot and C prefers to walk anyway. We didn't even bring a stroller to our Thanksgiving vacation.

Is it a necessity?

DS will be just over 2.5 when LO #2 arrives. We live in the burbs and use strollers mostly for the mall, zoo, vacation/travel, etc. We live in cold weather climate, but int he warmer months, DS rides his trike or likes to walk a lot when we're outside.

I don't think a double stroller is going to get much use in our household. When did your older child outgrow the stroller? Do you think a double stroller is a necessity?
