We laid out all the pieces we were considering, decided what looked cohesive, and then created an arrangement we liked. We did all of that on a sheet of packing paper, and we then used a pencil to mark where the nails should go. We used masking tape to hang the paper up, knocked in the nails through the paper and then tore the paper down.
