I definitely see tone misconception at work in emails. Sarcasm/rudeness/sadness/excitement doesn't transfer well through typed words. To me, there is such a big difference between "Ok that's fine" and "Ok, that's fine! :)" I try my best to make it clear how I am feeling, so it can't be taken the wrong way. DH thinks I'm nuts when I say I think someone is upset/mad, he says I am always reading into it the wrong way. Which is probably true ;) </p> <p>Are you good at reading tone either way via the internet/text? </p>
