Where we live you can register your cell phones with reverse 911 for emergencies, so no real need for home phone. Just our 2 cell phones. We previously had a house phone that was bundled with the cable, but since it was provided over the cable line and not a dedicated phone line, if the power or cable went out, so did the phone. We had a phone with Vonage for a while which I loved, because I hate talking on the phone, but I don't seem to mind a regular phone. I hate a hot, small cell phone held up to your ear and I don't have great hearing, so a headset never works well for me. We got this phone system that hooks up to your cell phone's bluetooth. As long as you have bluetooth on and you're in range, the home phone will ring when your cell phone rings.
