They use bluetooth to link to our phones so, if we're home and our phones ring, the home phone rings. I've always had one and will always maintain one. During the early hours of 9/11, the mobile network was jammed, no one could get through unless you had a land line. There was also a huge blackout that knocked out electricity, only landlines worked at that time. We use our cell phones. Even our front gate is linked to my cell phone. @autumnlove: We had that same problem with AT&T signal in our house, so we got an M-Cell. My husband works on call 24/7 and has to be available via phone at all times so being somewhere with no cell service isn't really an option. He has one verizon phone which is his primary cell and I have a verizon then he also has a super cheap sprint phone added to his parents plan for $9/month so we're never without cell phone service and the sprint phone typically stays home unless we're going to a sketchy verizon area. The only reason I have to have it is because it's connected to our front gate. And whenever someone buzzes us from the front, our phone rings. We have a cheap plan though ($15/month).
