It's also hooked up to our home alarm. It's been about 10 years for me. I remember having TWO landlines though... One for phone, one for Internet! My parents still have their landline though, because that is the phone number everyone knows! We had one for about a month in 2010 and the got rid of it. We have unlimited minutes on our cell phones, so we might as well use them. Landline loss is over 10% a year; so they are very quickly going to be nearly completely a thing of the past! I am shocked so many people don't have one. We have one. The main reason is because it is needed to hook up to our alarm/security system. Our house was also a dead zone until we got a boost. Now I get great reception at home.
