We got it because at the time long distance was cheaper than on our cell. Then for a while I didn't have a cell phone at all. Now we keep it because a lot of people still call us on it (like my parents, his parents... some friends). We do use it from time to time, mostly for local calls because they are free and that way we don't use cell minutes. But we know it's never anyone we know since we don't even know the # to give it out! lol! @artbee: I learned that even if you don't pay for a landline, if you have a phone plugged into the phone-jack, you can ALWAYS dial 911 and it will work. That's what the cable guy told us. So you can always keep one plugged in just in case.
