We somehow timed it so that we would only have 1 car loan at any given time (vs 2 at the same time). No cc debt. We pay off our credit cards every month and try to only buy things we can afford to pay off that month. We're trying to make an extra mortgage payment a year and cut our 30 year loan by half. sigh. We used to pay off all our credit cards until we bought this new house in a good school district 1.5 years ago. We are just paying interest (very low), not sure when we will be able to pay it off ... I am anxious to clear it but as a previous poster said, there's life like medical bills for our twins or property tax -_- DH is the finance guy of the household so I just leave it to him. We have a mortgage but could pay it off but have such a low interest rate that money is better left invested. Both of our parents paid for college so we were very lucky that way and then all the post-college education was paid for by the schools we went to so no school debt. My law school loans are like 2% interest so I don't think I'll pay them off early! .we have a credit card that we put EVERYTHING on so that we can get frequent flier miles, and pay it off every month. Rob Sr. and I have always had CC debt. We were foolish during our dating and first married years. Then just when we were getting control of our finances, I got laid off and couldn't find a job forever, then became a stay at home mom. We went even deeper into debt, even after I was holding 3 part time jobs and Rob Sr. was tutoring 3 students in addition to his full time job. We're currently very aggressively paying it off now that I'm back to work, but it is so disheartening sometimes. We're hoping to be completely free of CC debt by the time our next child is born...!</p> <p>Other than that, we have our mortgage (technically an income property now that we rent it out and rent the place we live in) and I have a lot of student loans. Rob Sr. has very little student loans and they're all federal. I *thought* I would learn from them. Sadly, I did have credit card debt in college and I did make some mistakes. Live and learn, right? I do have a lot of student loans but my parents couldn't afford our college education. So I knew, in order to succeed in life, I had to go to college and pay for it. I don't regret my decision to go to college. Nowadays, with the horrible job market, I'm not so sure about college.
