I work in a branch of a global investment bank. So between client meetings, branch meetings, and firmwide conference calls there are a lot of meetings. I don't mind the local ones they are usually necessary and productive. But the firmwide conference calls are PAINFUL. So redundant and people ask soooo many dumb questions!

We have tons of meetings. Not everyday, but some days where most of the day is spent in meetings. They can feel unproductive but they are usually more effective than emails, which can turn crazy really fast!

I have a fair amount of meetings in a week when I'm working between all the committees that I'm a member of. Personally I don't mind them- they break up the monotony of Visio charts and editing tax presentations.

My work is ALL meetings all day long... but thankfully, it's 95% over webex so it gives us the ability to multitask... even though one of our culture values is to "be here now"...

My previous big boss absolutely loved meetings, and they generally ran over in time and the scope of the meeting starts going way off course. I deal by bringing my laptop with me so that I can address email and do other work related things during the non-applicable meeting items being discussed.

Weekly meetings, but it's a company of 6 people. The meetings aren't tooooo bad. Just usually a huge waste of an hour.

Not in the position I have now, thank goodness. I can't stand sitting in meetings, half of the time I feel like nothing gets accomplished.

Very rarely do we have "company" meetings, though I do often have days where customers come in for the day to run trials and such, so if that counts, then yes.

We have 2 a week (all of our staff) and they're not bad. But people do start digressing at the end/talking about boring, irrelevant things and I just try to go to my happy place until it's over.

I have one-on-one appointments all day long..just the nature of my job (and I love it!). In addition to those, I probably have between 2-4 meetings/week.

My job is practically back to back meetings. It's not rare for me to have four meetings in one day, one after the other - with a quick lunch in between - for days straight. And you're right - it usually amounts to a big waste of time. I don't know how I cope, really, I don't have time to think about it - but I love spending time with groups of people so I guess I enjoy it!

For my events, a few I have to do with committee's, which equals meetings and a lot of mixed opinions and going in circles at times, at other times it is great to hear new ideas/perspectives for what may work!

For another part of my job we have two weekly meetings, both are both beneficial to know what everyone else is up to, and the second is great for working through things as a smaller group with relative job portfolios.

The third part of my job seasonally has an insane amount of meetings, but the creativity and planning that comes from them is usually pretty awesome!

If a meeting is a real wash out, I can usually get out of it with the other two parts of my job being insane and someone keeping me in the loop at a later time.

I have rounds every day, which is about a 1.5 hour meeting where the nurses, doctors, case managers, and I (the social worker) discuss each patient on the floor, their plan of care, and discharge planning. So that's every day. Every Tuesday we have our department length of stay meeting, where we (the case managers and social workers) meet to discuss patients who have been in the hospital for more than 8 days - the stated purpose of the meeting is to provide support and ideas for those patients who have difficult discharge issues. It is usually about 30 minutes long. One Tuesday a month, that meeting is a full staff meeting, where we usually have a presenter (a nursing facility, home care agency, etc) and then we discuss issues relevant to our department....and THEN have the length of stay meeting. That meeting can be 1-2 hours long.

Meetings are my life. It makes me kind of stabby.

I hate meetings, so am glad that I normally can avoid them. They usually bring together two things that I don't particularly enjoy: meeting with large groups of people, and wasting my time and not getting anythign done.

Do you have a lot of meetings at work? How do you deal?
