However, quite a number of people switch over to similar public servant positions and continue to work for several more years. Ministers can still work as Licensed Local Pastors/part-time but they are officially retired. My pastor actually cannot be ordained because she's actually above that mandatory retirement age, so she works as a local pastor. Still (over) full time but she's not officially ordained. My dad was a pilot for AA and they have a mandatory retirement age--I guess after a certain age, it becomes less likely that the pilots can pass the rigorous health exams given each year, and probably risks of heart attack/strokes go up. I have a coworker in another department who is 66 or 67.</p> <p>My perinatologist is turning 65 at the end of the year so he has to retire. He doesn't deliver babies or perform surgeries (and hasn't for years) and would love to work 2-3 more years FT but it is not an option.</p> <p>Do you have a mandatory retirement age in your current position? </p>
