I hoped it would help him fall asleep and it certainly never did that. But it did used to buy us 20 minutes or so of extra sleep in the morning after he woke up. He got bored of it around 9 months. I made it. It's been above her crib since day 1 but she didn't sleep in her crib until she was 5.5 mo old. At that point she noticed it and she really likes it. She often tries to reach out and touch it when we pick her up out of the crib, and if she is being fussy when I set her down I spin it and she seems to like watching it.
