It was his ex-girlfriend who was a little too comfortable with his family despite our relationship. My MIL adores her still. So, that was the beginning of the messed up dynamic I have with my MIL. DH's ex-girlfriend is a former nemesis since we put everything aside after she got married and pregnant. She was my own assistant, of all things....and she was awful. I think she thought she should have MY job, and I should be the assistant. We would constantly butt heads, and since she had been there longer than me, sometimes her friends would ask for things that she wouldn't pass along to me, which would cause even more problems.</p> <p>She also had a lot of personal problems and was angry and bitter in general, so I had to deal with that every day, too. There was a lady at my first job who was hired as the office manager who would make pointed remarks at me all the time. She seemed to want to compete with me all the time, even though I barely ever spoke to her. She once tried to get herself invited to a trade show that I was going to, and everyone was confused as to why she thought she would get to go. Then I was cleaning out a common inbox and found an email from her from before I was hired... it was her resume for my job!! Turns out she had applied for my job and never even been interviewed... after I started, our office manager left and she got hired as the office manager. I think she thought it was her stepping stone into my job. </p> <p>The crazy thing was that she was in her 40s and I was exactly 22 years old. She was completing her college degree in marketing at night at the time. I had just graduated from college. Props to her for being so driven for what she wants to do... but it really scared me as such a young kid! She really really hated me! Once I wore an outfit one day and she showed up the next day in a similar outfit, and made a snarky comment about it.
