A few videos. After we lost DH's grandma I realized how much better we have to be about taking photos and videos with important people, something so easy to forget in the day to day.

I'm not sure that I have any voicemails (we didn't call each other often), but my mom's back up answering machine (the one that cuts on if she's on the other line) is still my father's voice. It's nice to sometimes hear it.

My roommate and I had an old answering machine that my dad had handed down to me. We kept the recording of him so people wouldn't assume we were two single young women living alone.

After he died, my roommate's cat stepped on the answering machine and erased the greeting. I think my roommate was more upset than me.

This is a really good PSA. I have a voicemail that my grandmother left for me on my last birthday before she died, in which she sings "Happy Birthday" to me, and it's a treasure. I know we have videos that our parents are in but we should make more of an effort to capture them talking.

@Corduroy: My sister got DD a voice-recorder storybook reader (it's actually really cool - http://sparkup.com/) when my mom was in her final months of pancreatic cancer. We wanted to get my mom to record a story for LO (only 3.5 months old at the time) but I was so stressed out by mom's illness and dealing with losing her already that I didn't get around to figuring out how to use it while she was visiting (the last time we saw her).

I did ask my mom to write a letter to DD that she can read someday telling her how much grandma loved her and she did write it for me. I have it saved in her baby book for when she's old enough to understand and it makes me cry so hard every time I read it.

I have 1 short voicemail from my mom and a couple videos scattered different places.

We're packing up to move this week and I just found another greeting card she sent me back when I was in school. She used to draw happy faces on the cards she sent to my sister and I - we thought they were silly & cute at the time but now we treasure them as her "signature". My sister even got one of the drawings transcribed on necklaces for us

I have very, very old VHS tapes of my dad but I highly doubt they are playable any longer. He passed 23 years ago but I still remember his voice, thankfully.

I have a voicemail on my phone from my grandma who passed away last summer, I refuse to delete it. It's 18 months old but I listen to it whenever I miss her.

I don't have voicemails from my parents but I do have videos of them with the girls, I should get a recording though.

@Corduroy: That's really neat that your mom has that!

@mrbee: It's so hard when you lose someone and you want to try to encapsulate the memories that you do have. I don't have a recording of my mom's voice, but I still remember what it sounds like. My mom hand wrote a poem for me when I was a baby and I have that on display in our apartment. I'm going to be sure to make recordings/videos of my dad the next time I see him.

I have a few videos but not as much voice as I would like. My mom got one of those voice record books before thyroid surgery and recorded a book for my not-yet-conceived kids.

My mom recorded a 3 hour interview with her grandpa in college for a class. She still has it and I've listened to it once. It included his immigration story and living through the 1906 earthquake. I always thought I'd do something similar with my grandparents but I didn't. I need to get on that with my parents.

Yes, we have videos of all of our parents (usually playing with the LOs).

I have a voicemail from my grandfather that he left me 3.5 years ago just a few months before he passed away. It's still saved on my phone and I listen to it every so often. I also had my DH record it and backed it up because I was paranoid of accidentally deleting it.

My mom does commercial voice work. So there are thousands of non personal recordings I have access to. But she also has recorded some personal messages for me and DD in her studio that have been backed up in various places. I love knowing I will always have a way to hear her voice.

Nothing of my Dad that I can think of, though my stepmother probably has home videos? Not really sure. Should probably try to get a recording of him.

I have a video of my grandfather that captures his amazing laugh. I have it saved in multiple places and watch it regularly because I miss him dearly.

I have a short voicemail from my dad. It is short but includes his signature laugh, so it is valuable. I backed it up to my computer and cloud.

I don't have one of my mom, which is sad. I am pretty sure I have an old video of her though. I would like to play it for my daughter one day since she's named after my mom.

I can't find a recording of my dad's voice, and I truly regret not making one!! I used to be able to hear his voice so clearly in my head, and now the memory is fading. Oh what I would give to have saved an old voicemail he left me... he has been on my mind, and I just want to hear his voice again.
