Our joint credit card is a cash back one. We thought it was the best reward for us to split. We don't do enough travelling for a travel card. We usually get back more than $300 a year. I agree it's kind of annoying to have more than one card to pay off, but after 2 years, I'm very glad :) it's worth the 120 extra dollars that Amazon credit per year! We haven't actually used the card to reap the benefits of it like free checked bag, etc. (I can't figure out how! But we always carry on. For the ones with miles/points promos, you can BOTH apply to double your miles benefit! We just did this with the Marriott Rewards Visa card - we will each be getting 80k points in a couple months, which is enough to cover a week's vacation somewhere nice :happy: </p> <p>The Chase Sapphire Preferred card has a fee, but you get 20% off all miles redemption, and you can transfer points from any other Chase reward card (such as Freedom, which we also have for the rotating 5% back) to redeem through the Sapphire discount. For cash back I'd recommend Chase Freedom for the rotating quarterly bonus categories (next quarter is 5% back from Amazon). The Capital One Venture is also a good cash back card for everyday spending (2% cash back on every purchase). The Freedom doesn't have an annual fee so it's a no-brainer. We also have an Amazon card we use exclusively for Amazon, and we get about $10 a month credit for Amazon thru that. We pay our CCs in full monthly so it's an extra $40 a month for us.
