Debt free (except mortgage) but tons of credit cards. We get lots and lots of travel this way.

Two cash back cards (one gets better % on gas and groceries). We also have a handful of rewards cards that we've applied for to get the bonuses but will probably cancel soon. The best value for us is the cash back.

Yes! Our joint credit card is a cash back one. We thought it was the best reward for us to split. We don't do enough travelling for a travel card. We usually get back more than $300 a year. Not bad for a free card.

My personal credit card gives air miles which I convert to Starbucks gift cards and it funds my coffee habit.

@regberadaisy: I was just looking at the Amazon card too, based on how much I buy there! I already have 2 active cards (1 open just not used) so I def am weary of opening another BUT the credit is tempting!

We have a USAA cash back card. I really need to look into better cash back cards. We can use the points for anything but typically we let them rack up until we had an unexpected expense some month and then we use the points to help us pay off the bill.

We have a southwest and a United card. We have flown to Europe roundtrip 4 times ( both of us) and to New York twice and brought my whole family (parents) to California all on United miles. We put everything on a card and pay it off every month.

@regberadaisy: the amazon card works anywhere, but you get the best rewards when you use it at Amazon that's all, so that's the only place I use it. I see you already got the percentages above. I agree it's kind of annoying to have more than one card to pay off, but after 2 years, I'm very glad :) it's worth the 120 extra dollars that Amazon credit per year! (which could be more or less for you, depending on how much you spend on Amazon)

I have a few reward cards, but we stick to the airline mile card the most. We haven't actually used the card to reap the benefits of it like free checked bag, etc. (I can't figure out how! But we always carry on. Might change once #2 is here though!), but it did help us pay for our flights to Cancun last year since we booked it last minute.

Hubby and I have a few. For the ones with miles/points promos, you can BOTH apply to double your miles benefit! We just did this with the Marriott Rewards Visa card - we will each be getting 80k points in a couple months, which is enough to cover a week's vacation somewhere nice

The Chase Sapphire Preferred card has a fee, but you get 20% off all miles redemption, and you can transfer points from any other Chase reward card (such as Freedom, which we also have for the rotating 5% back) to redeem through the Sapphire discount. And of course, airline cards give you benefits while flying with them, as well, such as free bags, early boarding, etc. Our cards let us take one free overseas vacation a year - so worth it!

We use Amazon prime so much that the Chase Amazon card gets us the best rewards. 3% back on Amazon purchases, 2 or 1% on everything else. You can set it up so the rewards go straight to your Amazon account. I'm buying Christmas gifts with ours!

@junebugsmama: Cash back card or travel? For cash back I'd recommend Chase Freedom for the rotating quarterly bonus categories (next quarter is 5% back from Amazon). The Capital One Venture is also a good cash back card for everyday spending (2% cash back on every purchase). The Freedom doesn't have an annual fee so it's a no-brainer. If you want a travel card that'll depend on which airline you fly most.

We have an BOA cash back one that automatically puts the rewards straight into our savings every month, usually about $30. We also have an Amazon card we use exclusively for Amazon, and we get about $10 a month credit for Amazon thru that. We pay our CCs in full monthly so it's an extra $40 a month for us. Score :) We travel a ton but I prefer the flexibility of cash rewards, especially since we travel dirt cheap (motel 6 style) and wouldn't benefit from a travel card that required brand loyalty.

Yes. A cash back and a travel (but the cash back one can transfer to the travel one so I have options). Love them. As long as you are in a position to pay off the balances in full each month it doesn't make sense to not have one IMO. So many great perks/rewards.
