If you don't mind it taking up to like an hour to vacuum, it works well since you can "set it and forget it". As others have said, you'll still need to go back with a regular vacuum once in awhile to get corners since the programming in the Roomba is a lil weird. It will vacuum area rugs depending on the thickness. It'll get stuck if it's too thick. It's great for dust and pet hair. I still have to clean the corners and in tight spots. We set it so it runs just about every day. We have two dogs so we have lots of pet hair. It may not do a 100% but it keeps it under control. In general, I vacuum once per week. Now that the weather is nice, we constantly have the windows open and I notice that the floor is a bit dusty and needs to be vacuumed more often. There is also construction right in front of our building, so it is adding to the dust. We've been considering getting a Roomba type vacuum. Do you use one? Do you think it is worth the cost? How often do you use it? If you have a non-Roomba brand, which brand did you buy? Any tips on using one? Thanks! </p>
