History may not speak as much about woman who changed the world as much as men but I guarantee that the world we have was built on just as much blood, sweat, and tears of females as it was males.</p> <p>I feel like some of the things you mention about women not needing men but wanting support from the government system is somewhat biased and slanted. We have government assisted programs to assist those in need, men woman and children its not as if its solely there for woman alone and men never benefit or use the system either. Also men demand protection from the military, police, firemen, etc as well. Its not a blanket protection of just woman here. As for child support and such, men only provide these things if they make a significant portion more than their former partner. Woman can just as easily pay for alimony as well if they make more but traditionally they make less usually for all the reasons you seem to be against (gaining entry into field typically dominated by males), the idea that woman make less per dollar in similar fields even if they are just as qualified and schooled. </p> <p>Like I said Im not a feminist so I cant argue statistics and numbers about this and that but I love my husband, he does work hard for our family financially so I can stay at home to raise our kids but I dont need him in the way I feel your speech implies. I dont need him to provide for me, I need him because he is my partner and I am his and Im sure he would say the same thing. We work together to create the lives we have and in part we both sacrifice and work hard at the aspects we need to. I dont need him to take care of me, I need him because he is my best friend, father to my children, my love. And I find it hard to believe that anyone who is educated about feminism to the degree that they have read the major works of Steinem, Dworkin, Frieden, etc. actually believes that feminism is simply about treating men and women equally under the law. Far from it. In reality, feminists very often fight to have women elevated above men, whether it's affirmative action job quotas or the gender-biased domestic violence laws in California and OT or the way child custody meted out in deference for the female party. And then there's the whole patriarchy nonsense that paints every male as guilty of some form of oppression or another, and the broadening of the term rape to include all sorts of acts (like having sex while the woman is drunk, even if the man is also drunk) or Dworkin's belief that all sex of any kind is rape or...well, this post is getting too long. When you get a chance, watch some videos by MRAs to hear some of the arguments against feminism. They go into much more detail than one post could allow for here. I have a blog where I do not use my first name (I use my middle name). Anyone who reads the blog would pretty easily know who I was in real life. I've given enough identifying info (my school, the year I graduated, and my middle name would be enough) that I don't consider myself anonymous. But I also don't tell people in my real life I have it. My husband knows, as does my bff and another good friend (and now one friend I've met IRL that I met because she was a blog reader!). But I don't tell other people because I think they'd think it was dumb haha. </p> <p>Sometimes I think about starting a new blog that would be "out in the open" but I'm a crap blogger anyways, I rarely update! </p>
