This time I have my own office and use that. The last time I was pumping, we had to use the conference room and would just put a sign up on the door; however if the conference room was in use for a meeting we had to either use the bathroom or find a co-worker who had their own office and didn't mind getting displaced for a little while.

We have a room that is labeled the "quiet room". It has a couple chairs, sink and small refrigerator. We have to book it through our company outlook calendar before you can use it. Only one person at a time uses it. Right now I think I am the only pumping mom in our building that uses it. The other mom just uses her office. I have too many people who randomly come in mine to do that. I need a little more privacy.

my work has a pumping room where multiple people use it at the same time. i haven't used it yet, but i think since everyone's doing the same thing, people are pretty comfortable with it. i heard that some women use a cover, while others don't. i'll probably bring a cover to begin with and see what the general vibe is.

We shared a room but again, it had a lock and we just put up a sign that said it was occupied when we were in there.

At first I was the only one using it and later we had several moms so we had to make a schedule.

I don't think I would really mind pumping in front of other moms. I mean, I went to breastfeeding group and you probably saw more with the LC helping people out. Now it might be awkward with co-workers though.

@BabyBoecksMom: I remember reading somewhere (here or somewhere else) where someone mentioned they shared a room to pump. They worked at a big company and had a large room with a fridge and amenities in there for them....

But, I guess either way - do you share a room with others while you pump or do you use a shared room to pump?

We have a shared room but it's not for use by more than one of us at a time. I had to give a schedule to HR (weird) but I am the only one who uses the room right now. The other pumping mom uses her office. But things will change next semester because I believe there are 2 students who plan to pump so I will have to stick to the schedule. I've suggested to HR that they put two cubicles in the room so at least 2 women can pump at the same time.

Yesterday afternoon I was pumping and someone knocked on the door, I didn't realize that the lactation room is also open for use to guests attending conferences! She had to wait until I was done.

Are you talking a room that multiple women could use at the same time? Or just one room that everyone had to share?

We had one room w/ a lock on the door that everyone shared. It was first come, first served, so who ever was using posted a sign that said "Please Do Not Disturb", so other women knew it was occupied. I wish there was a sort of schedule we could have used because there were so many times when I needed to pump between meetings and couldn't. (on a side note, my best friend and I went in there together quite a bit so we weren't competing for the room)

If so, how do you handle pumping with other women in the room with you?
