We have a side by side Maclaren, which I think is pretty similar to the Combi and will easily fit through a normal doorway. One sad thing is no one-handed pushing since it's an umbrella and I'm used to our B-Agile. I would totally go for the B-Agile double if I hadn't gotten such a good deal on ours; Joovy also has a lot of really cool double options. I feel like a tandem might be better with a newborn but side by side seems like a better long term option (disclaimer: #2 is still in utero! I have test driven our double w/DD and cousins, though).

We have a side by side (Bumbleride Indie Twin) and really like it. It's a very smooth ride! But it is really a beast of a stroller. I think all doubles are, though. It does fit through standard doorways and it's really super cute.

@erinpye: Definitely update and share how you like it! I'd love to know. Baby #2 isn't cooking yet (hopefully in the next 6-9 months though!) and I've already been thinking about doubles. MB Duet is at the top of my list, but I keep going back and forth between wanting a side by side and a tandem.

We've had two - the Australian equivalent of the B-Ready (tandem) and the City Mini GT double (side by side). I infinitely prefer the City Mini! With the tandem, it felt like I was driving a bus and it just wasn't that easy to maneuver, it needed a somewhat considerable turning radius, but on the plus side, it was no wider than a single stroller. The City Mini is slightly wider, but fits through all normal doorways with a couple of inches to spare. It has an amazing turning radius and I find it a thousand times easier to maneuver around places. We live in England, home of notoriously small and narrow buildings/walkways, and whilst I can't say I haven't found a doorway I couldn't fit through, it hasn't happened very often. I would choose a side by side any day...

We have the city mini double GT (side by side). We were originally going to get the rumble seat for our UB Vista but a couple other parents said its a hassle when one wants to sit a certain way or lie down, one is kicking the other, etc (can't remember the details). We are considering getting the piggyback board thing for the Vista though.

We test drove a bunch of double strollers at Buy Buy Baby last year and ended up getting a B-Ready. We already had Britax carseats (and a single B-Agile for C), so we liked that the B-Safe carseat was compatible with it, without any additional pieces. Other pros:
--Very narrow
--Can fold with bottom seat attached (we saw a poor family at Disneyland trying to get on the monorail and they had to keep track of two toddlers, hold the second seat, and fold the stroller)
--Top seat reclines flat so we used it for H starting at a few weeks old
--Top seat can face forwards or backwards

Cons:
--Bottom seat is on the bottom... so the vision is really limited for whoever is sitting there. Right now it's C (the older one) because H needs the top seat so I can see him and it reclines more. She HATES the bottom seat. Before buying, I read online that a lot of kids like the bottom seat and that siblings usually fight for it... so far, not the case for us.
--It's HEAVY. With both seats in, it takes quite a lot of effort for me to lift the damn thing into the back of our SUV. I think it would fit in my husband's Camry, but we haven't tried yet.

Other FYIs:
--We live in the suburbs, and we usually only use the double for walks around the neighborhood/park, to the mall, Disneyland. AKA really wide open spaces, so we could have done with a side-by-side.
--My mom always complains about the 2nd seat because she says C always hits her head on the main seat when getting in and out.
--We got the 2nd seat free through Amazon during what appears to have been an unadvertised Free Ride event, so that was a nice bonus.

We like our stroller, but we don't LOVE it. But, I think it's the best for what we need. I might get a secondhand side-by-side for when my mom takes them out for walks, but we'll see...

@Mrs. Lion: I think they are all hard to maneuver, really. I went to a store and tried out a lot of different models (they didn't have the b-agile, though) and they were all just big and awkward in general.

We have the city mini GT double and like it a lot. We used with DS as an infant without the adapter (just laid the seat down flat) and he has been comfortable and not fussed at all. It steers really easily and also fits through all of the doors that I have tried so far.
For what it's worth...customer service at Baby Jogger is great. We had a random issue with a wheel sounding funny and although it wasn't covered by warranty any more (over 1 year) and there was nothing functionally wrong with it, they sent us a new one without any hassle.

@Radish: thats why i like it too! I like the city double but it wont work with our chaperone infant seat, and i think the britax is very similar but cheaper. I found one on craigslist for 275, so im hoping for a used one a little later on :)

Dh seems to think tandem is better though but i dont know why.

@Mrs. Lion: I just bought the b-agile double, but haven't tried it out yet so I can't really say. I went with it because we have the single b-agile and are happy with it and because it was the right price point (I paid $317 after tax for the 2014 model).

We had a tandem (UB Vista), and it was great for a while, but got hard to turn, and the rumble seat is limiting since it's in a fixed position. Still a great stroller though.

Now we have a side-by-side MB Duet and love it. Never encountered any door it wouldn't go through. It's really narrow for a double. It's only about 1 inch wider than my single Bob!

I have the side by side BOB, and it is terrible for using inside. I also have the Britax B-Ready which is great for anything inside (ie OB/GYN appts, shopping at the mall, airports etc). I would not like a side by side for doing inside stuff, even if it wasn't a BOB.

We have an uppababy vista with rumble seat so that's tandem, and we also bought a combi twin for our nanny share so that's side by side. We love both but the vista is obviously more sturdy so we use that most. I kept the combi just in case but I think we will sell it soon. I found it relatively easy to handle, but the kids are too strong and I don't like how the seats get knocked out of shape when they squirm around.

Our nanny loved it for her daughter, who was about 6 months at the time but tiny for her age since she was a preemie. It fully reclines.

@Bao: no we bought it when olive was around 9 months i think. when she was little, i just wore her. or we took out two strollers (her in the snap and go and charlie in the umbrella), but that required both of us. which was fine since we always went out together on the weekends anyway.

then we tried using a buggy board, but it didn't fit our needs. i actually have a post in drafts about all the different stroller configurations we've tried for two kids and will try to finish it up soon!

we have the combi, but just bought a used city mini double. i think the combi is really great and was perfect for our needs. but i needed something a little more heavy duty now that we use our double daily (previously only on weekends).

most of the time we don't have trouble with standard doorways, but you do encounter some that are too narrow. overall i think the side by side is still easier though than a tandem.

I'm just curious what you chose, and why. We are planning on getting the Combi side by side in black. We went and played around with a few at the store a few months back and this was one of the few that I could actually lift high enough to get into a vehicle. I also felt like it turned a lot better than the tandem strollers.

Do you have a side by side or tandem stroller? Which one do you have, and why do you love it? Anything you do not like about it?

ETA: if you have a side by side, is it difficult to get through doorways?
