People here in the UK are usually surprised when I tell them I'm from Texas. They expect me to have a crazy thick country accent. So I obligingly put it on for a good laugh.
My G'ma says that I'm starting to sound British now that I've lived here for 2 years, but I don't think so- though I'd say my word choice has changed.

Yes, a Midwest twang although I get asked if I'm from Canada a lot. Guess we michiganders sound similar to people in the south.

I have a very slight one, it's not something that most people would comment on. I went to school in VA though and had a couple southern roommates, if I start talking to them I pick up their twang on a couple words while we're chatting.

I grew up in the town next to Boston and only have the boston accent on certain words (mainly the words with "r" at the end) I've made the conscius decision to pronounce my Rs, but will fail at it when I get too excited.

I learned to speak in Louisiana, but we moved to MA when I was still pretty little. My Mom is from VA, so I have an odd accent. Generally, I say things more northern (although not Boston, I pronounce my Rs). But, there are things that I say that sound country and DH likes to make fun of me for it. Specifically the word "insurance". When I go down south, I tend to speak more southern. When I am angry or drunk, I get a little more northern.

I'm originally from Newfoundland but have lived in Alberta most of my life. People still tell me and my mother we have pretty strong Newf accents (my sister wasn't talking when we left, so she sounds like your regular run of the mill Canadian!).

I do not have a distinctive accent at all, but it's funny what some people say when they hear me on the phone for the first time. I was born and raised just outside of New York City (generic "East Coast" accent) and I have been told that I sound like I'm from the Midwest. Also, I lived in the South for a number of years and still say some words with a somewhat Southern accent.

I was born and raised in Dallas, TX and have often been told that I don't sound like I'm from Texas. I guess people assume that everyone from TX talks like a hick, although seeing as how I'm from one of the largest cities in the country and have never even ridden a horse, I think it would be kind of weird if I did have a country accent!

I have a slight southern accent, but it was a serious drawl when I was younger. I don't think it's too noticeable, but I guess it's apparent to anyone not from the south. I've been asked multiple times over the years where I am from. My husband makes fun of me because every once and a while (especially while drinking) I can get awfully country.

I don't have an accent but I definitely have some words that come out funny (by funny I mean in Baltimore-speak). :) I say roof and woof funny and have been told I speak like a Baltimorian. I might have lost a lot of that moving south, though.

ETA: The first communication I had with Hops' parents was on the phone. I could hear their Boston accents then but I don't hear them so much anymore.

My parents both have strong New York accents (think Brooklyn). I can pick it up really easily, but my many years in California have pretty much erased it. While I was in Seattle I had someone tell me they thought I was from West Virginia (?!)

I have a thick Welsh accent. I've had to calm it down a lot now I live in Greece. When I go back to the UK now though I get told I speak with a Greek accent, but as soon as I come back no one can understand me because of my valleys voice.

I was at Starbucks on the west coast once and I asked for an "iced coffee with room" but apparently I say "room" with an accent, and the girl gave me a weird look and said "we don't serve alcohol here". She thought I said "rum"! That was a good one.

I definitely have a toned-down version of a Boston accent. It comes out full force when I'm tired or tipsy but I keep it mostly under control. There are certain words though, like "drawer", that perfectly display my accent. There is no other way to say it for me than "draaw". I just can't physically do it.

I have lived in the mid-west/heartland my entire life and I don't think I have an accent. The only thing that sticks out in my mind is we use a lot of hanging prepositions (i.e. where are you at?) which drives our English teachers nuts around here, but it's a hard habit to break!
