African cyclids &amp; pleco's </p> <p>Is it very difficult to maintain? Freshwater is not too bad, just need to change water mostly, everything else is auto and he had the pleco to clean algae </p> <p>Do you find it expensive? Less than saltwater, although saltwater aquarium is prettier! Freshwater def is less expensive and less maintenance </p> <p>Any tips for someone just starting out? Definitely figure out how much work you're willing to do and how much money you're willing to spend! If it's not an intense hobby maybe just get a small tank with just a few fish. DH is really into it so he's willing to put in the $/effort.
