@mrbee: yeah, the older I get, the harder it is. But I find that if I just gut it out and stay up until 7 or 8 pm post call, I do better than if I nap during the day.... Bit I swear it's aging me! A couple of years ago I looked 10 years younger than my age, now I look just a few years younger. Oh well, it's the price I pay for having tha job that I do (and love).

I work from 7pm-7am, the day of the week rotates and I have to work every third weekend. It is a lot of juggling with the kids, but I am able to go on field trips and go to family holidays (I am just usually really tired if I haven't slept much before hand).

Yes. I work 3 12 hr shifts and then 3 8 hr shifts a week. I usually take Tuesday or Thursday off. But since I work graveyards I still feel fairly social.

I used to work from 5 am to 1 pm, and at an earlier point it was 230 pm to 1130 pm... Or I had Monday and Tuesday off too. All when I was single, though. I think it would be really hard to do now that I'm married with kids. I we so glad to move into a career with normal hours!

Its 2 in the morning right now, and I just got home from work...Mondays and Tuesdays are my typical days off. This obviously places me on a pretty different planet from the rest of the world. I'm very fortunate in that my wife has basically rearranged her schedule so that we can at least share days off...so I definitely consider myself lucky.

As for friends and family though, it's always difficult. Always having to say no to dinners, birthday parties, and all of the normal stuff that goes on, but what really concerns me is what my schedule might do to family life going forward.

Do you have a "weird" schedule? If so, what do you do to make it work for you?
