I tend to get attached to inanimate objects ... my old laptop, old hiking sneakers, plants, a particular button. Sometimes I imagine us moving away, but it'd be so hard because I'd miss our house so much.

DH gets attached too but it's a struggle at first (i.e he never wore a watch before and claimed he hated it - until I bought him one as a gift, now he never takes it off). Though with him, it's less of an emotional attachment, it's more of being set in his ways.

@chopsuey119: What kind?

@lilteacherbee: I think part of my husband's issue is that he's had 10 cars in his life. That's a lot of cars! For people like us who live with our cars for so long, we have a lot of memories in there!

I miss my old car - my first. I LOVED it. I was proud of it. Every time I see the same make/model on the road, I feel so sad!

I have attachment to things when they come with memories. My family moved (only 20 minutes away) when I was 16 and because of the economy /real estate situation, it was on the market for 3 years. Then my grandmother decided to use it as her "beach house" since it obviously wasn't selling. I was so happy that I could go back and "visit" the house.

I still have my first car too. It holds a lot of memories from when DH and I started dating (we were 16/17), not to mention memories from high school and college. I've started looking for a new car and it saddens me a bit :(

So, no you aren't crazy!

Today I asked my husband if he misses his old car. We sold it a couple of weeks ago because we had to buy a mini van. His answer, "no. it's just a hunk of metal." My answer, "that's the hunk of metal we brought our daughter home from the hospital in!" Personally, I love my car. It was my first car, and I've had it since I was a freshman in college. Hubby still drives it, it's too small for LO so we get the mini van.

Then I asked him about our houses. He's not attached to any of them. He'd be perfectly happy if we moved right now. He likes our house, but it's just a house. I LOVE our house. I want it to be our forever home. And I would cry if I had to leave. It's LO's first home, it's our first home that we bought together, LO has had and will have many milestones here. It's more than just a house!

Am I a crazy person or do other people love their things too?
