We just signed up for one. Can't wait to start using it more to see if it's as great as I've heard.

@matador84: with my HSA, we have discretion over it...meaning that if I use cash not from my HSA to pay for something healthcare related, I can go to an ATM and take money out from my HSA and pay myself back. So I imagine you'd be Able to move money to your own account?

Bumping
Does anyone know if you can move money out of an hsa back to your personal checking? Somehow the amount for the month got deducted twice!!! I'm so mad...grrr...I don't want to be penalized but I need that money!

We've only done FSA's in the past but we signed up for an HSA starting next year. I love that the funds don't expire, unlike an FSA.

@ladyfingers most hsa's you open through a bank if you are on a HDHP.

Yes and I love it! I love having an emergency medical fund when I need it. DH contributes to it and his company matches it, so it's been great for us. I feel like I don't have to worry as much about paying for childbirth because of it.

Yes. I contribute $125/month and my employer contributes the full deductible over the course of the year. It really made sense last year because I used HSA $ for acupuncture, plus wanted to try and save up a cushion in case we needed to pay OOP for infertility treatments. That's why I'm sticking with it. In case we need IUI for #2 (I'm pregnant with #1)

I don't now because it seemed to be more hassle than it was worth for us. I don't usually have a lot of medical expenses; usually just a few co-pays or prescriptions over the course of a year. Also, pregnancy/delivery is covered 100% (no co-pays), so it didn't make sense to add it.

Yep! Both DH and I do and we have for the past few years. It's great for us as it's minimal deduction each month and we use it up within the year! We'll up our contributions next year for LO~
