Yes. Not so much at movies but with people or how she perceives my emotions. If I snap or get annoyed, she will get so sad and run into a corner. This is why discipline doesn't really work for us. If I show I'm not happy with her, she'll just cry and be sad :(

Yes, my 22 month old is really sensitive! Even with certain books, she'll be really worried about the characters. We watched finding Nemo as her first movie and it was a bad choice! She was so upset, crying for Nemo and marlin. Ugh. Mom fail.

We have watched the aristocats with mostly success. Daniel tiger even makes her cry sometimes. Winnie the pooh Christmas made her cry too lol.

Very much so. Any time I am upset with her, she becomes more upset. She has been asking difficult questions about death, and becoming very upset about it, since the age of 2. A certain song says something about "never leave you all alone," and she sobs because she doesn't want me to 'ever leave her all alone.' Moving music in general can make her cry. She went through a period of time where she was very interested in Venus Flytraps, because they were part of the story we were reading at night, so I pulled up a video for her. The trap caught a fly, and I looked over at her and her eyes were welling up as she said, "poor little fly." She sobbed all night, I felt like the worst mom ever. This was when she was 2.5 yrs, she's 3.5 now and still extremely sensitive.

My son is very sensitive to things I say and do... I have to be really careful!

As for movies, he does get scared easily. We streamed "The Little Engine that Could" and he got scared by the Nightmare Train and we had to turn it off. But he's gotten less scared, and now he can make it through most things, if I'm holding his hand or if he's sitting in my lap.

I'm bumping this because I need answers too. :) Though I'm glad I'm not the only with a sensitive mini.

THIS. We have to fast forward a lot of movies because he just gets upset.

Example

Cars - when Lighting gets knocked out of Mac and Lighting can't find Mac. LO was like WHERE IS MAC!!?!? *in tears* (we fast forward this part every time we watch this movie which is like a lot)

Ice Age - Usually at the beginning there is a scene where the prehistoric squirrel gets hurt while searching for a spot to hide his walnut(?). LO cried while the squirrel was getting hurt and asked to turn it off turn it off while in tears. We can't even watch this movie at all.

Everyone has recently asked me if I plan to take LO to the good dinosaur since it's is 3.5 now. I said no... because I bet there is a sad or scary part that he will not like. Everyone thinks I'm over re-acting.... I don't think I am.

I actually don't mind that he's sensitive but it's hard to explain it others.

my 3 year old is insanely sensitive and empathetic. last Christmas she was just 2 and cried during Rudolph and Elf! She was so so sad that Rudolph was sad ("why am I such a misfit?") and just as sad that the Narwhal was sobbing when Buddy left the North Pole. I mean, lip out, eyes watering, true tears. Needless to say, those were turned off very quickly.

Now she is 3 and I was a little more hopeful this year even though she's still extremely sensitive..but again a fail this year. She started getting upset during The Polar Express when the little boy got onto the train - her voice broke and she said he just wanted to back to his home. And again when he was on the top of the train searching for his friend....sigh.

Don't get me started on the Lion King. "Where's the baby? but where did the baby lion go? he wants his mama!" Um, he's a child lion now... :bummed:

I guess we'll just be avoiding movies forever?! Is anyone else's kiddo like this - tips?
