It was red and blue -_- when we moved in. We painted it yellow and white. But DH's scared of heights and parts of the 2nd story are still unpainted. Then it started raining like crazy, got cold early, then I got pregnant, and next thing we know LO's here. So yehhh ... it's red, blue, yellow, white and black. Generally, that's a good thing to have people who can keep an eye on your house when you're gone, etc... but sometimes it's really annoying. Like our neighbor who came over every day for two weeks this summer to talk about our broken sprinkler. That's hilarious. </p> <p>We have an elderly neighbor that rakes our yard (technically she's raking the woods). We even had our property surveyed and she still goes out and rakes our woods every weekend, like - 20 feet over the property line that is marked with bright orange flags. Our next door neighbor is sort of grumpy looking all the time, so we don't even try to talk to them. They mentioned before about the previous owners had a yappy dog, kids, and never maintained their yard. So I guess in essence, they were saying it was nice to have us as neighbors now since our dog is quiet. They complain about us and other people to the head of the HOA, who then has to tell us that we've been complained about. Right when we moved in we asked the head of the HOA what the rules are for paint colors, he told us there really aren't any, so I picked out what I thought were fun, bright colors. Two days after we moved in we had complaints. But since there were no rules we decided to leave it up. I said, how come? She said, "It's because Americans don't breast feed." (She is from Jamaica.) Then she sighed out the deepest sigh, like she was disappointed in us as parents, disappointed in America and most of all disappointed in the state of parenting in America.</p> <p>I told her that Olive has been breastfed for over a year, and she just rolled her eyes and started talking about everything else Americans do wrong. It was so funny I almost broke out in laughter! But I wanted to be respectful of my elders (and I felt bad about Olive's nighttime noisiness), so I just said that sometimes the old ways are the best ways. She agreed, and I slunk off into my apartment. </p> <p>Do you have any judge-y neighbors? </p>
