@Mrs. Bee: Yes, do it! It seriously helped so much!

@Mrs. Pen: It definitely wasn't convenient for me either, my appointments were at 6 a.m. and I had to drive 30 minutes away. My PT co-pay was high too, I think $40-50/session. But it was one of those things I felt I should make a priority, I wouldn't hesitate to take care of any health related issue with one of my kids so I thought I should do the same for my own health!

@Mrs. Bee: I second the women's health physio stuff. My husband is a physio and the physios he's worked with who treat these kind of issues have had amazing results. It can be pricey but apparently very effective.

I have pain in my feet that just won't go away and I am 20 months PP! It got a little bit better after my chiropractor adjusted it.

Other than that, I still occasionally have pain in my wrists. I had pretty bad deQuervain's for 6 months or so.

@MamaJ: I did the god-awful perineal "massage" (more like torture) and I still tore too... who knows, maybe I would have torn worse though. It was still terrible though.
And I'm glad they did something! I wouldn't wish incontinence at our age on anyone!

@Mrs. Pen: @blackbird: I did so many freakin squats while pregnant because our Bradley instructor said it would prevent tearing. Yeah well I had a 3rd degree tear but I don't have incontinence issues. So I'm glad to know maybe they were good for something!!

@blackbird: I hear ya. I resorted to wearing pads for workouts.. It's gross but it helps! I still double up the cup and the pads just in case, but the last few workouts I've run for 2 miles and no leaks. I think I still may take the doctor up on her referral though... I may not ever TTC again and even if I do, it's a long ways away!

I will have to mention it to my dr but it feels kinda pointless since we'll be ttc again this summer :-/. Maybe I will google some exercises and do them. Not opposed to a diva cup! It's just awful to go home smelling like urine. I'm willing to try it because if I'm having surgery, it's after I'm DONE. My mom still has this issue at 55 so I'm not going to wait forever for it to get better.

I'm fact there's a whole Crossfit video out there about peeing when doing exercises and it's meant humorously but it's also so true!

@PurplePeony: you're not alone with the flatulence.

I have about 30 seconds to get to the bathroom when I first feel like I have to poop. If I don't go immediately it turn into this uncontrollable fart disseminator. I sound like a human whoopie cushion walking down the hallway at work... so loud. I want to die. It happened at dinner with my in-laws too. I essentially farted all over the dinner table when I stood up to grab something from the kitchen. No warning whatsoever that time.

Crazy thing is I'm not sure what hole the air even comes from. If it didn't happen when I had to poop I would swear it's from my vagina. Sorry, I passed graphic a few sentences back. My doctor seems concerned but he did a full exam looking for fistulas and can't find anything. It hasn't happened in a few months so I think it has gotten better (14 months pp now). I certainly don't test the limits of my 30 second rule.

@Veggiemama: @Mrs. Bee: I actually did! I have the referral sitting and waiting but was waiting on a couple things with insurance before making an appt. the therapist is over an hour away too so it will be interesting scheduling an appt.

@blackbird: I talked to her about the bladder issues due to exercise and she recommended using a diva cup when I run/do cardio (like jumping) and it's helped!! It gets better everytime. She said the way the cup is positioned, it supports that muscle that gets damaged from childbirth and helps strengthen it. This coming from a doctor who has had four children and went through the same thing so I trust her!

@rachiecakes: It really sucks because I had to wait almost 15 months pp to do ab work because of very separated abs and then when I finally was cleared and met with a personal trainer to whip me into shape.....severe, burning, pain :crying: I can do crunches on an exercise ball, but have to take it really easy, much more than that brings on the pain. Blerg, I feel like I'll never get my abs back

@Mrs. Bee: and anyone else with post-partum incontinence or intercourse issues, get a referral ASAP for a women's health physical therapist!!! I casually mentioned to my midwife that I was having a minor stress incontinence issue and she recommended PT. I was a little hesitant at first thinking my issue wasn't that bad, but then came to the conclusion that I am only in my 30's and way too young to be dealing with this for the rest of my life.

I only went for 4 sessions (what my insurance approved) and it made a HUGE difference, I have almost zero issues now. She taught me all kinds of exercises for the pelvic floor muscles, a lot of abdominal and core strengthening as well as different versions of kegals. It was amazing, it's now my PSA for any woman who has given birth!!!

Yep with the peeing when I cough, or sneeze and don't brace myself, or do jumping jacks...

Also, I dunno what I did but I can't sleep on my side with my knees together anymore. I have to have one leg pulled up with my knee resting on a pillow. If I even try to sleep completely on my side I HAVE to have a pillow between my knees or I wake up with screaming pain from my hips to my knees.

Sleeping on my stomach makes me nauseous, and I had lower back pain around the epidural site off and on for almost a year.
