She took some decent pictures, but now that I'm more into photography, I recognize that she was barely professional. She begged me to write her a good review online a few months later, and now she's out of business. I read the blog of the other photographer we were considering and I wish I went with her every time she posts a new wedding :(</p> <p>The second thing I regret is changing my hairstyle last minute. I had a hair trial but the morning of the wedding I told my hairdresser I wanted something different. I was late getting ready because it took so long, and all the curls fell out before I even got to the church. I spent a lot of time talking to random distant relatives I'd never met before, and didn't get to spend a lot of time with close friends and relatives, including some who had come from overseas.<br /> I wish we had gotten married within 6mo of getting engaged. It was almost 2yrs bw engagement and wedding. It took over our lives during that time.<br /> I wish I'd delegated more. I ended up getting interrupted a few times during the reception to pay the musicians, DJ, etc. I also forgot to arrange post-reception transportation for me and DH. Oops!<br /> I wish I'd gotten married in my hometown instead of DH's, but it was cheaper this way.<br /> That said, we had a great wedding and still get compliments on it. And our photos are TO DIE FOR. I also regret not making sure our officiant told evening they could be seated... So they all stood haha. Awkward but fortunately it was a short ceremony. DH and I didn't hold hands either I think because I was so nervous about being in frot of everyone I forgot. Also made a realllly ugly happy face walking back down the aisle. Minor stuff that is a little funny now. Actually an iPod setup would have been even better).</p> <p>Oh and I wish we'd rented a dance floor. Starting the ceremony much later than it said on the invitation. We put down 4PM on the invitations but knew we were gonna start at 4:30 to allow people to arrive on time, but some people arrived super early and I felt bad, and then we ended up starting the ceremony closer to 4:45! </p> <p>2. I wished we had hired a better photographer! OMG! This was HUGE for me! </p> <p>3. BIGGEST REGRET: I wish I had not been such a blubbering crying MESS!!! OMG, I was soooo emotional! We were young and very budget-oriented at our wedding, and we hadn't been to a lot of weddings yet because we were the first of our peers to get married. Since I've been to like 20 weddings since then I always see things that I wish I had thought of!</p> <p>1) I wanted to keep my veil over my face for the whole ceremony until the very end before the kiss. For some reason everyone told me you're not supposed to do this, because pictures wouldn't come out well. For some reason I just listened to them. Since them almost every bride I've seen who wears a veil with a blusher keeps it over their face for the entire ceremony. WAH.</p> <p>2) We just chose among the 5 choices of dinky little centerpieces the venue offered. I wish I would have upgraded to a bigger, prettier one. It was literally 5 white roses in a bud vase.</p> <p>3) I would have hired a live band. Our DJ was awesome and people talked about him for years afterwards, but since then I've attended weddings with live bands and they were AWESOME.</p> <p>4) I would have extended the reception an extra hour or two for an additional charge. We ended at 11pm and it felt so abrupt and sad. Luckily we had a rockin afterparty at the hotel.</p> <p>I think that's it. I set the date because I wanted a beautiful fall day, 10/30. Little did I know I scheduled it during one of the biggest games of the year huskers vs. mizzou &amp; the time of the game was announced the week before our wedding. We had several guest change their rsvp others just didn't show. We had 250 rsvp &amp; at best, including the bridal party &amp; close family, we had 100 guest.
