We originally installed blinds and just recently installed curtains in all the rooms. I love our new curtains. TOTALLY makes a big difference! I also like having the blinds so that I can control the amount of light that comes in. Wooden blinds with curtains. The wooden blinds do enough to block the light that we don't use the curtains at all. For LO's room though we did get light block curtains to go with the wooden blinds. I replaced the ones in our bedroom with black out roller shades & curtains. The shade is kind of ugly, but it's hidden behind the top of the curtain when it's up. They give us the freedom to buy decorative curtains without worrying about blackout curtains or anything really heavy-duty (ahem, so ridiculously expensive), but they also roll out of site and let in maximum light on nice days.
