No climate control here and it gets pretty cold in the winter! We rely on space heaters.

Neither; however, we are fortunate enough to live in an ideal climate so neither is really necessary. Brisbane's avg winter high is around 72 F (22 C) with lows around 50 F (10 C) and summer ranges from mid-80s F (30 C) to low 70s F (20s C) with very low humidity.

We do have a portable oil heater, similar to a radiator, that we use on the odd occasion when the temp drops into the single digits Celsius overnight, but fortunately, that's not too often!

Nope, we have a wall unit. A lot of apartments do here, or at least a lot of the ones we looked at. We'd prefer to have it though, so we'll see what we can find when we move out of this place!

We have central heat (and backup monitor heater upstairs) but no central air. I don't really like air conditioned air, and we really only would have use for it a couple weeks at most during the year. We have 2 mobile AC units which are more than enough to cool the main floor of the house if it gets miserable. I doubt we'll ever get central AC as we plan to build and the cost would be an additional $11k-14k for the house. I can't justify spending that kind of money on something we would barely use!!

everyone here has central heat and air. i don't think i've ever been in a house/building here that doesn't have it. we're a four season climate, so it's definitely needed. the summers average 98-100 degrees with almost 100% humidity (that's like 110 degrees, y'all!), so obviously central ac is necessary!

We have central heat and no a/c. In the area where we live it rarely gets over 90 degree, so it isn't such a big deal. We own a wall/window unit that we used in our apartment, but it is just sitting in te garage used for the past two years that we've been in this house. We do have a whole house fan in the hallway, which is a great way to bring in cooler air from outside during the summer evenings with the windows open.

Oh yes! Definitely need both in the middle of Kansas. Summers would be especially miserable (last summer we hit a record number of triple digit days with the highest being 114) without AC. Winters I suppose we could do with just our woodburning stove but I wouldn't want to be without that.

Nope, we don't have central air. We don't have AC either. We do have heat in our apt. We are usually fine with just fans. Although, if there is an heat wave, we have to suffer through it. Luckily, it doesn't happen that often for us.

We just bought a place with radiator heat and window AC units, but it's only 800 sq ft so it's pretty easy to keep the place warm or cool. Plus it's a well maintained building and our inspector checked out the boiler before we entered into contract and it's in great condition.

I've also been running the AC all week because of the humidity - I sleep so much better when it's cool!

Central air and heat. No central air would be pretty impossible during a Tennessee summer.

I grew up with central/air heat and I tend to only use it when really necessary. I prefer the windows open if it's nice outside. My husband however did NOT have central air growing up so now he abuses the power!! I swear he'll turn the heat off, and then turn on the A/C the next day. I like to tell him he's a very delicate flower when it comes to temperature. He doesn't like that so much : )

@skibobrown: My aunts from Cali came to visit me the week prior to my wedding and they kept turning off my A/C because they claimed it was too cold. To the hubby and I, it was flipping hot! The temperature read 80 every day when I got home from work.

We're in the SF Bay Area. We barely have heat, and we don't have any AC. Usually the weather here is pretty mild, so we can control the temperature pretty well by opening and closing windows and curtains. However, now that we have the baby I'd really like to have more control over regulating the temperature in our house.

Yup, central heat/ac. I don't like window ac units, seems depressing to have one stuck in your window blocking your view. At my first apt we had one & it used to get nasty! Granted I was living with smokers at the time, but the filter would be black & gross & I would gross myself out thinking about breathing air from it
