But DH works nights a few nights a week so on those nights I wait to eat with him. But on the nights he is home at dinner time we started eating together at the dining table. Pre baby we always ate in front of the TV. But no more! I want it to be a time the whole family is together to talk about our day! When Mr. T is in the field (planting, harvest) it's just the girls and me, but the rest of the time we have at least one meal a day with the whole family. Now that it's summer, we get to eat two meals together at the table; lunch and supper. I think it is a wonderful way to connect and enjoy one another's company without so many of the distractions that are present in most of the rest of our life. We've been including Lorelei as a "participant" (i.e. she is awake and also eating) since she was about 6 months old. Ellie is old enough that she helps set the table, and often helps with cooking and meal prep as well. It has been so much fun to share my passion for food with her! I think it's great that you are trying to have family meals. We've pushed back bedtime so we can all eat together. I pick DH up at 7, we have dinner between 7:30ish-8:15ish, then it's bath for P &amp; bedtime (G usually takes a bath before we eat).
