This is definitely important to us as well. But DH works nights a few nights a week so on those nights I wait to eat with him. But on the nights he is home at dinner time we started eating together at the dining table. Pre baby we always ate in front of the TV. But no more! I want it to be a time the whole family is together to talk about our day! I want to make sure everyone has their "5 minutes" as well.

Yes. DH works 10am-about 8pm so we eat breakfast together as a family and I eat lunch and dinner with Elliot. This is what we've done since he started solids.

Yes. LO and I don't always eat together during the day, but we do eat dinners as a family. It's fun!

We are so fortunate right now to be able to do family dinners every night. I am a huge believer in the value of family dinners (if it works for you!), so I will do anything possible to keep it happening!
Even before our LOs were eating with us, they were with us at the table in some sort of container (swing, chair, carrier), so they have always been with us at dinner time.

I completely agree with you. When Mr. T is in the field (planting, harvest) it's just the girls and me, but the rest of the time we have at least one meal a day with the whole family. Now that it's summer, we get to eat two meals together at the table; lunch and supper. I think it is a wonderful way to connect and enjoy one another's company without so many of the distractions that are present in most of the rest of our life. We've been including Lorelei as a "participant" (i.e. she is awake and also eating) since she was about 6 months old. Ellie is old enough that she helps set the table, and often helps with cooking and meal prep as well. It has been so much fun to share my passion for food with her! I think it's great that you are trying to have family meals. I do definitely understand that it can be hard in some situations, though.

Yep! We've pushed back bedtime so we can all eat together. I pick DH up at 7, we have dinner between 7:30ish-8:15ish, then it's bath for P & bedtime (G usually takes a bath before we eat). I tried feeding P before getting DH for a week so she could get to bed earlier (bathed as soon as we got home & then put down before dinner for the rest of us), but I wasn't okay with not eating together.

I'd like to more often but it's not doable for us right now, DH works late so we eat dinner after LO is in bed. On weekends we usually eat breakfast and lunch together though.

L eats dinner at 6 and DH and I eat together at 8. I really want to find a way to have us all eat dinner together at the same time.

Do you eat at the table with your LO?

Miss A is almost eight months and I like to sit at the dining table and eat my meals with her during the day, we also eat dinner at the table as a family at night.

I personally think it's really important to eat as a family and also sets a good example for kids as well as providing a chance to catch up with each other at the end of the day.

Anybody else feel this way?
