Um, yes. I have a friend who claims that she and her husband will be ready for being woken up by baby since their cats wake them up in the night. I'm like, okay, this is SO not the same. But, I don't say that. I just nod and smile.

I am a super big dog lover, so I definitely relate to their animal love, but... no.

My old manager used to do that all the time and normally I wouldn't care that much, but he would always use it against me. For example, whenever I had to take an extended lunch to take my son to his doc appt, he would say things like "You should hire someone to take him. My next door neighbor takes Coco to all his vet appointments." Uhhhh. No. I'm not having my neighbor take my son to his doc appt.

I understand being a pet lover, as I raised many dogs growing up and truly truly truly love pets. However after having partially raised a few humans, I have come to the conclusion that they are not comparable endeavors.

That said, I will never express that opinion out loud. In general, hearing someone compare raising kids to raising a puppy doesn't drive me crazy or anything... it just makes me think: if only kids were that easy!
