Gross.</p> <p>Make a trap!</p> <p>Take a plastic water bottle. Cut the top off near the taper but not in the taper. put a little water and a thin slice of banana, maybe a drop of beer or wine in the bottle.<br /> Poke a hole in the plastic lid. If you can't, remove the cap, poke a hole in a piece of foil and rubberband it around where the cap was.<br /> Invert the top with your cap-hole in it. Tape with clear tape.</p> <p>Make several. Fruit flies were coming out in droves. It was horrendous. I coding figure out why there were so many, and we set trap after trap and there were still tons! Then it hit me. I hadn't taken out our compost pail since J was born 10 weeks ago. I brought it out from under the sink and opened it. They swarmed out.
