I've had probably 2 vivid dreams now that I'm pregnant. I'm just not having them. I am still getting sleep. I haven't been hormonal so maybe that's why I'm not getting the vivid dreams.

Maybe I'll have more in the 3rd trimester.

I often have vivid dreams and they're usually of the nightmare variety. Last night I dreamed that while we were out of the house, a fire started and when we came back our house had burned down. The firemen rescued our dog but in the process he ended up with a huge 3-inch hole in his neck and it was the weekend so I had to find an emergency vet to take care of him...

I am definitely an anxious person so it doesn't surprise me that my dreams tend to be unpleasant.

I have very vivid dreams every night, but very rarely have nightmares. The worst I have are mildly upsetting dreams, and even those are rare. I only have true nightmares maybe once a year.

I tend to have recurring themed dreams (slightly different each time) often involving being in a place that I know, but it looks completely different - train stations, main roads etc. sometimes being chased.

Since falling pregnant they have gone off the chart - more often than not involving losing my daughter somewhere, a loved one being sick, just generally stuff that makes me wake up with my heart thumping.

Happens especially if I roll onto my back - lack of oxygen to my brain perhaps?

Not normally but I did last night. In my dream I left my 2 girls and a daycare friend in the car while I was in a huge mall returning something. I couldn't find them after I realized I left them all in the car because the parking lot was too busy? I woke up shaking, but I think it's because I fell asleep nursing our baby and she was still in our bed. My subconscious was saying "wake up" you left E2 in the bed. Hated it.

Also I always say I'll start a dream log bc the author of Twilght was rumored to have started writing that book because of a dream. My dreams have to be more entertaining than that!

@DesertDreams88: our dreams are identical. A lot about being unprepared for school or not knowing where I'm going in a school. Also with gum being stuck to my teeth and unable to get it out.

I'm not a typically anxious person but I am slightly type A (professionally at least). When things aren't going well at work I have more of those dreams. I also wake with tears on my face about once a week. Those dreams can be horrifying (loved one dying etc to bizarre- dog chased by a shark on land). It's weird what makes me cry and what doesn't.

I had read that those who don't sleep as deep can remember dreams. My mom and sisters all sleep terribly and we all have vivid dreams that we remember. My DH sleeps easy and can remember one dream a month Max.

I have very vivid dreams also, and it really affects my quality of sleep at night. I don't even have kids yet and I am exhausted all the time! I swear I nap my weekends away! (It also doesn't help having cats and dogs waking me up at obscene hours for cuddles and food :silly: ) Mine are not nightmares tho, just really odd vivid dreams.

I used to, but I don't get them as much now (probably because I still don't get to STTN regularly). I thought it had to do with my narcolepsy.

Yes. I'm sure it has something to do with hormones. I get a lot of recurring dreams, but they're not really bad dreams.

I definitely have vivid dreams and remember 1-3 each morning. About 10-20% of them are "good" dreams, about 50-60% are a neutral mishmash of daily life, and 20-30% are anxiety dreams / nightmares. A LOT of them have to do with being unprepared for school either as a student or a teacher. Another reoccurring issue is that my teeth are falling out, or that I'm chewing gum and can't get it out of my mouth.

My husband has very simple dreams mostly centered around animals. He rarely remembers them, though. He's a very calm person.

@gracecat: those are common themes for many people i think. i also can't find a clean toilet (usually have to pee!), and i'm unprepared for school/test. i'm often chased, and a dream that i had forever is that i can fly, but i can't control it. like i'm stuck on the ceiling and trying to get down.

dreams are so crazy!

Yes! Ever since I was in elementary school I remember having a lot of vivid dreams that I could remember after I woke up. Fortunately they are not all nightmares or traumatizing, though some are definitely unpleasant and have recurring themes. Usually the ones where I am in an elevator that I can't seem to control, or trying to find a clean toilet (bleckh), and dreams about being late or unprepared for school (high school through law school) or having missed an exam/class completely! It's awesome though when I have dreams about flying, or something I'd never get to do in real life.

I think I'm definitely an anxious person, I worry a lot about things.

I've always had crazy, vivid dreams... more like nightmares every night. Very rarely do I have a good dream. I remember them every morning, and usually 3-4 of them... even more. They are so complicated and detailed with many plot twists and turns, and many recurring dreams. I don't know if I'd prefer not to remember my dreams at all!

I read that more anxious people as well as people on antidepressants can have more vivid dreams.

How often do you remember your dreams? How often do you have nightmares? Are you a crazy dreamer like me? I think Charlie is because he frequently talks about being scared of his nightmares.
