Yes, I bought the next size on sale last fall and bought one more this spring from Target. He might wear one today since it will be 88 today in NY!

We went to the beach in September last year which inspired me to buy a size up from clearance last summer. We just went through the suits and had her try them on and I am SO happy to have that already taken care of! Actually, she fits in most of her 18 month swim stuff from last year and the 2T stuff I bought for this year, so we will have a lot to choose from.

@rattles: @mrs.shinerbock: The dinosaur print is my favorite! DD has the one piece suit but I bought a size up and I think I'll have to save it for next year unless she grows a ton by the end of summer!

We already have swim stuff because I'm pretty sure everything from last year still fits. We bought on the big side last year, and it still fit fine in February for swim classes and vacation. Boys are easy though.

Yeah, we do swim classes so we need it year round. My 2.5 year old is super skinny so he's wearing the 6-12 month trunks that I got him for two summers ago. I got him s long sleeved rash guard for this summer. I also got a full one piece suit for Baby2 for the beach this summer.

I bought 2 new swimsuits, one with a rash guard from Marks & Spencer. I expected it to run small, like all of the other swimsuits I've bought her, regardless of brand. It didn't run small.

Now I'm wondering if I should buy new swimwear or just use the old swimsuits my mom had sent her last year (she may still be able to squeeze into them since they were big then).

This year I got both of them swimwear from HA. Long sleeve rash guards for each of them and trunks for DS and a skort for DD. They always wear rash guards unless it is late in the day or early morning. Last year I got DD's swim outfit from the boy section in a sporting goods store because it had a rash guard and long shorts. I'm pretty paranoid about sun exposure.

@mrs.shinerbock: I got her the one piece in a size up (4/5) in March. I was on the fence about which size (reviews said it ran small), but they sold out of the smaller and it was on sale, so I just went for it.

We are in full summer mode here already--our community pool has been heated for over a month and we recently took a beach vacation. We have a lot of swim gear:

DD (4.5 yrs): 2 l/s rash guard/bikini bottoms (one carters one old navy), 1 s/s rash guard/bikini bottom from Gymboree, and 2 one pieces (carters and ross)

DS (10 mos): two l/s rash guard and trunk sets (Gymboree and target)

In my defense only one of DD's suits are new! Two still fit from last year and two were end of season clearance at carters for a steal! Plus she swims daily in her summer program at preschool so 5 suits means not having to do laundry during the week if I can't swing it.

Yes! DD has one tankini set from target, and a rashguard from the target marimekko collection. DS has his rashguard and board shorts from last year that he can fit into but is outgrowing, and a new one for this year that is still a little loose on him. Both are from babygap.

Yes, it's well into the 90s here and we were at the beach last weekend. LO1 has a long sleeve rash guard set from Target and another one-piece from Target that I haven't taken the tags off of yet. LO2 has a one-piece 3/4 sleeve rash guard that I got from a Boden B/S/T group.

Yes, they have a ton already! Except my tiny DD has not grown as much as I expected, so she still fits in last year's suits! I have a ton of 2T suits for her for this year, so I'm hoping she hits a growth spurt soon! DS has all rash guards + trunks. DD has a couple one pieces that I'll put a rash guard over and a couple rash guard sets with bikini bottoms. I also have a couple pairs of board shorts that I like to put on the bottom when we're out playing with the water table or splash pad because she's more comfy in shorts than bikini bottoms.

@Foodnerd81: the only frustrating thing is that I think to get a coordinating combination (tankini & rash guard), you're limited more to HA, Tea, etc...super cute but I find the cost a little hard to swallow the way my kids destroy their swimwear! We are currently doing a lot of mix & match, or the Gap rash guard/bikini bottom sets. We size down to get the bottoms to fit, so the tops become a little cropped and more like 3/4 sleeve, which is nice for keeping cool!

@Foodnerd81: I do the same with reusable swim diapers. Or honestly, if we are just playing in the sprinkler/water table, DD2 just wears a swimsuit (no diaper) if I'm sure she's pooped for the day.

As for one piece swimsuits...DD1 (almost 4) can get them off if there's enough give in the straps. I wouldn't put one under a rash guard though, she'd never get that off to go potty!

@Mrs. Pickle: we had a reusable swim diaper last year for my toddler and it was really great, except when she pooped in it. It was just elastic and pulled down and just very gross. I started only using it days when she had already pooped! But we don't cloth diaper so my tolerance is way lower than someone who is used o cleaning diapers I'm sure! With the baby she is still EBF, no solids, so I don't know if any swim diaper, disposable or not, will contain it.

@rattles: I'm really looking forward to not dealing with the swim diapers! She takes swim lessons at a gym and they still put her in the swim diaper just in case- luckily she calls the swim diaper "my swim suit".

Yep, it's already summer here. DD1 finished her first session of swim lessons last week, and we spent Sunday lounging at the local water park.

DD1: 3 one piece swimsuits (1 HA that still fits from last year, 1 new HA that has room to grow, 1 dinosaur print from Mini Boden)
DD2: 3 one piece swimsuits (hand me downs from her sis) and one swim diaper and long sleeve rash guard (she is more sensitive to sun than her sister; Speedo bottoms, Baby Gap top)

Side note: It is SO much easier now that DD1 is potty trained!
