We don't do holiday outfits. For family holidays, my son just wears a nicer regular outfit. We did get him an Elvis costume for Halloween.

Both. We go a little overboard and L always has a few outfits for each holiday. I intentionally didn't buy anything for St Patrick's day though, and mil gave her an outfit

With the exception of Christmas pajamas, we never buy holiday clothing, but if it's gifted we'll gladly take it! :)

My mom likes buying DD dresses, but I don't really like some of the dresses she picks out, so I've started buying her dresses for special occasions. I figured she's only little once.

My mom has been buying DD many holiday outfits (but not all). I really don't care about holiday outfits if it is not a "major holiday" so if DD is not gifted one, we don't have any kind of special outfit.

My mom and MIL both like to buy holiday outfits, but so do I! So for Christmas, for instance, they wore the Christmas outfit from MIL on Christmas Eve when we were with that side of the family. The day after Christmas they wore outfits from my mom because we were with my side of the family. Christmas Day they wore what I picked out. For other holidays they just end up wearing a lot of themed outfits in the week leading up to the holiday.

My mom usually buys her seasonal pieces (i.e. Snowmen instead of Santa). I prefer to buy holiday outfits myself.

I bought DD's first Christmas outfit as a newborn... Other than that I didn't really get any specific themed outfits and nobody gifted us any either.

She did have a CNY dress and Halloween/Christmas shirts as hand me downs.

I think my mom will buy special occasion things where she would participate in the occasion too like Christmas, but not Valentine's. She bought her favorite nephew's first daughter a very fancy dress for her first birthday. Looking back on it I see how intrusive that was. She didn't even ask about the party theme or venue just picked what she thought a little girl should wear. Hopefully, she will run the outfit choice by me first or she may be in a for a shocker to see him something else.

Half and half probably, plus we had some hand me downs that worked size wise with C. But we are more likely to be gifted impractical dressy outfits that I use for holidays- like the fancy pink dress my sister got C for Christmas will be her Easter dress. Like @youboots: I'd rather get something in the right colors to be festive but that they can keep wearing.

But yeah I totally bought them matching st Patrick's day shirts already. ;)

My MIL bought a 4th of July and Halloween outfits for T. I'm not sure if it's because it was her first year. I'm not that into a really specific outfit for a holiday- more something in a seasonal fabric or color that can be worn over a few months so we don't really overlap.

It is very rare for my girls to get gifts from family beyond birthdays and Christmas. My ILs get them something small for valentines and Easter, but it's usually knick knacks and treats.

I usually have hand-me-downs or my mom buys something. :) But if I don't have either, I just skip if it's not a "major holiday."

For example, we had some halloween onesies in the right size from my cousin's kids (I did buy a costume, though) so E wore those, but we didn't have anything from anybody for Valentine's day so she didn't have a holiday outfit.

My mom bought her Christmas PJs and has an Easter dress on the way for her. Not sure she'll feel like doing that starting later this year when there's more than one of them, but for now she's having fun. (My mom is also awesome and always checks with me to make sure I like what she picks out, so that's a huge plus!)

Do you have to buy holiday related outfits (Valentine's day, St. Patrick's day, etc.) or do you usually get them as gifts?

Right now, MIL has been buying outfits for them. Which is great, but I usually grab some when I see them. So they always have at least two outfits each. I know this isn't a problem and it's great that the twins are well loved (and clothed). ;)
