I haven't really had to worry about christmas stuff yet, since baby isn't here, but people have been asking a lot about toys for the baby shower or just how we're going to deal with stuff in general, so I did start a wishpot with toys for children who are a little older that will initiate imaginative play. they only hard & fast rule that I have, though, is no plastic. I've told everyone that they are welcome to buy plastic toys for our kid, but those toys will be staying at their house for baby v to play with when he or she comes over. no plastic at our house.

Well, since my lo isn't old enough to know what a gift is this year I'm asking for things like warm pjs. When she starts knowing and wanting toys, ill probably prefer a surprise. I trust my family can pick out good toys! But of course if they continue to ask me I'm sure I can find things I'd love for her to have

Nobody has asked us! But that's okay because LO is only 4 months old and doesn't need anything. I like buying her toys that I think will help her developmentally and actually prefer if friends/family didn't buy her extra toys. My parents did mention that they wanted to get LO something and I replied, "Diapers. Just buy her diapers."

What Red wrote. I have so little time around the holidays with us traveling, that I can't be worried about making it to the store or post office.

I email LO's Amazon wishlist to those who ask. I appreciate it when people ask cause I hate doing returns, especially with LO in tow.

I do an amazon.com wishlist, and it works great!! Whenever I think of something I'd like to get for him but don't wanna spend the money, I put it on there. Cool toys, accessories for his stroller, etc.

All of DS's grandparents seem to be enthralled with plastic, flashy, noisy toys. I have been trying to suggest some that are a little calmer, so to speak, like wooden blocks, a shape sorter, and other wooden toys. I am just aiming for some balance. Since DS is only 8 months and has three sets of grandparents, DH and I aren't really getting him anything for Christmas other than a 1st Xmas ornament, his stocking and the carseat we just purchased for him. Plus his birthday is coming up in March, so I'm sure between the two events, he'll be set until next year.

Yes, some people ask but I would actually prefer the surprise. You can always do returns. I guess I am not that picky and I think it is more fun for the holidays if it is a surprise.

Well normally people ask us what she needs and I will give general ideas but this year she went through the ads and pointed out things to "ask santa for" and MIL and FIL bought her some stuff that she chose.

I LOVE it that this year everyone is asking me what we need for our LOs. It just makes things easier for us and them! I did set up Amazon wish lists for them (just for our own use at first, but now I'm sending the links to those who have asked).

My MIL & mom know DDs sizes and know my opinions as far as toys go for the most part but with other people I don't tell them what to get, but if it was something I wasn't comfortable with I would return it or save it until we deemed it appropriate.

I'm making a wishlist for him. I guess it might be first-time-mom control issues, but I really, really would like to have a say in the toys he gets for as long as I can -- stuff that allows for open-ended play, and a good variety that is not all flashing lights/sounds.

I've always loved shopping for kids and babies, so I assumed everyone else did too and would have fun shopping for my lo for Chanukah. But so far family members are being surprisingly practical and asking me what she needs. It's kind of nice!

Do you have to make wish lists for your family members on behalf of your lo, or do they buy whatever they want?
