I'd like to know why my flipping diapers have "baby" sesame street characters on them, or why pooh-bear & friends puked all over everything baby wear. WTF?

There are some cute gender neutral ones on TRU too!

I hate stuff with characters on it.

@artbee: I agree. It will be different as she gets older, starts to interact with other kids finds her likes and dislikes, but for now when I'm picking things out and she doesn't have an opinion I like to just keep it simple. and like you said, gender neutral for the next LO.

@lovelife: I think I might feel differently about things with characters if my lo actually watched tv and knew who they were. But she doesn't, so why am I going to buy a Dora the explorer something when neither of us has ever seen the show? It just doesn't make sense to me. I think id be willing to spend the money for something without the characters .... if the store had it!

@artbee: I hate things with characters on it, and it seems like you have to spend extra money on things that don't have characters on it. We used a little plastic pool for LO to crawl in and out of for a while (that's also what we did at the daycare I worked at.)

True, I find myself buying the boy stuff for DD sometimes instead of the princesses. Even though I know I am having another girl, I don't want to go overboard with pink everything.

@NYCaliMama: Thanks, I will have to check out amazon. I just get so frustrated when I go to a store and it's either boy or girl. I have that problem when shopping for pj's for LO too. I like to get gender neutral so they can be used again if we have a boy next, but it's either boy or girl. So my LO always ends up wearing boy pj's.... I figure that's better then a boy wearing pink!

@NYCaliMama: I was thinking about the pool. I wouldn't want to use a pack n play because I want something she can climb in and out of herself. She LOVES to climb in and out of things!

For a ball pit, we use our gender neutral pack n play... could you do that? Or get a little inflatable pool? I'm sure Amazon has more options without characters. We bought our ball pit balls from there.

I was thinking about getting my LO a ball pit for Chanukah, and while looking at Walmart today my two choices were Disney Princess or Spiderman. I do buy my LO lots of pink and girly things, but for big things I like to try to keep it gender neutral because I don't want to have to buy EVERYTHING all over again if we have a boy next.

Does anyone else find it weird that there aren't many generic, brightly colored toys out there? I guess I'll get it more when my LO starts watching tv and movies, but right now she shows no interest so there's no need to buy the princess stuff.
