She used to come every other week, but with two kids and three pets, the house was getting dirty so quickly. Having her once a week has made everything feel much cleaner. We also have a landscaper who cuts the grass for us. I really, really want to get a regular (1x/week) house cleaner but as others have said I feel like I should be able to handle it since I SAH. I think if/when we have another we'll have more of an excuse!</p> <p>I don't feel the desire or need to have any kind of childcare on a regular basis but it would be nice for doctor's appointments and that sort of thing. I have tried childcare swaps in my mom's group but they didn't really work out. It will be nice when LO is in preschool 2 days / week in the fall because I can schedule things during that time.</p> <p>I have also thought it would be nice to have a mother's helper (school aged kid - maybe homeschooled?) to play with LO one day per week she is not in preschool if/when we have #2. Sometimes the kids hang with me and she does chores. Other days they all nap (!) And she and I take l tackle bigger projects (closet organization yesterday). Sometimes she is with the kids while I run errands or have appointments. Depending on naps and feeding schedules I may or may not take someone with me. I felt like a failure at first but he could see how much I was struggling (I think there was some PPD in there) so he insisted about 4 weeks PP to start looking.<br /> At the time it saved my life. Currently, I'd be just fine without her, it's a luxury. I'm with him 3 days solo all day and it's fine. And some days I even wish she wasn't coming because I'd rather just spend the day in my PJs with LO (mostly in winter). In which the idea is I can do appointments, organize and clean house, etc. we hired someone for 2 weeks and the new routine was getting good, but she got a full time job :(. </p> <p>In a perfect world, I would have a house cleaner twice a month or so, and a nanny two days a week. And a dog walker 2-3 times per week. That would help so much! With the ever looming guilt of finding a reliable solution for child care, keeping my house neat and organized, and my poor neglected dog's exercise and socialization. We'd have to sacrifice in other areas to make it work though so it won't happen. I think with three kids in the fall I would enjoy having the ability to get out for grocery shopping, errands, etc. without having to bring them all and would allow me to either have alone time or take one along with me for one on one time. I'd also do my housecleaning on that day, too. But again, we can't afford it right now so pipe dream. ;) </p>
